Desktop version (Windows/Linux/Mac) of Task Coach
Welcome to the Task Coach feedback forum. This forum is for the desktop (Windows/Linux/Mac OS X) version of Task Coach. Please stick to basic operation of the program itself. Requests that require the implementation of technology outside of the main program go in the “Other feature request” section.

Enable multi-user Task Management
Hi,
Currently, when 2 (or more) users are opening the same file, a change one
made is not seen by the other, until he re-opens the application.A "push tier" is one possible solution to pass changes to the other users.
Best regards,
Kobi884 votesWon’t be ready for some time though, and I think we’ll need some serious beta-testing before releasing this.

Better control over task order
I think there should be a smoother way to re-order tasks. I'm a bit long-winded here, but I do think finding a way to address this would be a major improvement for taskcoach...
Here's how i see the problem: Task dependency (not yet implemented) partially address this, but falls short if you plan to tackle subtasks from more than one parent task in the short term. Priority is helpful, but falls short in that you have to manually go in and increase or decrease tasks one at a time to get them into an order of what you would like…

Sync with Google tasks
I suggest you make a way to import google tasks from the web and replicate back, so we can keep track on the move, or just export a list to google tasks

Add report builder or parameter-based effort reports
I would like to see more customizable reports in Task Coach, specifically in relation to reporting periods and grouping (by category.)
For example:
- Daily summary of effort between Date 1 and Date 2 for all tasks tagged with a selected category.Currently effort can be filtered by details, day, week or month. Sometimes the month or week that I want to report on does not align with a regular work week. Being able to set the start and end date would be a major improvement.
A tally of the total time spent would also be a nice addition to…

Rearrange columns in viewers with drag and drop
Being able to re-arrange the displayed columns with a simple drag & drop would be a good feature. Then you could prioritize the columns that are most important to you.
336 votesRe-arranging the order of columns by drag and drop is one of the most requested features for Task Coach. As you may know, our small development team struggles with finding enough time to maintain Task Coach, support users (which we do for free) and develop new features.
We attempted a fundraiser to hire an outside developer to program the feature for us, but the fundraiser was not successful. It was just a test and there are many reasons it could have gone better. We are aware of and are exploring alternative fundraising options in general.
The reason this particular feature is expensive is that it needs change in the underlying wxWidgets framework that we use and needs an outside developer. But there is a lower-cost easy alternative to customizing column order and we will probably implement it soon: we could use the same interface we currently use for customizable toolbars.…

Add custom fields
I would like to have a few fields that the default system does not supply. I would be great if I could add my own custom fields.
It would be nice if these fields could have options to be checkboxes or dropdown menus to select from preset options as well as the option to be user-entered alphanumeric information.

User defined hotkeys (keyboard shortcuts)
I would like to see a "keyboard shortcuts" option in the preferences menu that allowed the user to use any desired key for an action.
For instance i would prefer to use <cntrl-UP> to increase a task priority instead of <cntrl-I>. Or assign <a> to open attachments...
Thanks again for the great software. I'll pledge 5 EU for implementation.

Don't count weekends in days remaining
I think that some people use the program for the job (as me), and the days
of weekends don't be used for work, but in the attribute column of days
remainding, it count all the week.
For example, I have a task that must be completed before 20 of may of 2009
(Wednesday) and today is 14 of may of 2009 (Thursday), then program mark 6
days left. But in Saturday and Sunday I don't work and therefore I really
have 4 days only.191 votes -
Include a checkbox in the task list to mark items completed with a single click
Right now (unless I'm missing something) I have to click to select a task, then move up and click the "completed" button in the toolbar.

Adding an "edit" viewer
I suggest adding the option for a new "Edit" viewer. This would be an optional viewer that can placed to be always viewed, similar to other viewers.
This "Edit" viewer would simply be an edit view of whatever object currently has focus (if the object has an edit option).
For example, if a category has focus then the edit options of that category are displayed and edits can be done and saved automatically. If focus is then switched to a task, then the "Edit" viewer will display the editing options for that task. This allows for increased editing efficiency and…

Notes & other description fields support rich text
Would be nice if all the description fields would support direct rich text input and saving of rich text. Rich text may also include support for bullets, tables, and embedded images.

Print single tasks
It would be quite a nice feature to print a single task with all the details and with or without all the subtasks.

Allow "real" attachments (store in connected directory)
....because links can become invalid (Network resources, Outlook Emails). Another reason is: Only this way you can be shure not to delete an attached (cleanup the hard disk...) file before the referring task is deleted. Keep synchronised attachemnts and tasks.
A good implementation:
-Specify a main attachment folder in preferences.
-Each task will have its own, automatically created, subdirectory inside the main attachment location. This subdirectory only gets created if the task has an associated attachment.
-When adding an attachment to the task Task Coach will (optionally):
.....- Create a new subdirectory for the task, if one does not exist. …77 votes

Given the similarity to this request:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/1145137-save-attachements-within-as-taskfileI’m going to treat the request HERE as a request to copy or move attached files to a specified directory that will be within the same directory as the .tsk file (or optionally any directory the user specifies)

Column / calculation that includes Fixed Fee only on completion
the total fee is resulting in all of the child items even if they aren't finished. It would be nice if there was a option or a new column with only finished total fees.
