Have the start date of the dependencies be driven by the end date of the prerequisites
If you link the tasks, where the start date of the dependancies are driven by the end date of the prerequisite, then if you are late in completing a task it drives the start of the dependencies to the right and the end date of the project is also pushed out.

I like this idea, but it should be only an optional setting per-task, not a change in the behavior of the system overall.
It should be "prerequisites show up ___ amount of time after this task is complete"
