Ability to move selected tasks to a different .tsk file
It would be nice if I could right-click a task and/or have a command in the file menu of "Move to..." and could then select a different .tsk file that the selection gets moved into.
This would make it a cinch to move tasks to an archive or just move them for other purposes. Perhaps a "Copy to..." could be considered as well (like the difference between copy-paste versus cut-paste).

Oh, I didn't even think about the "save selection"… yeah.
So the current workaround could be save selection, then open the other .tsk file and merge it with the saved export.
But I like the idea of a way to just move tasks to a different .tsk file. It would simply be an automated version of this workaround.
I edited the request to make it more clear.

There's also "Save selection". Select the tasks you want to archive, hit "Save selection", and after saving hit "Delete" to delete the tasks. Unfortunately, adding tasks to an existing task file is not supported so this isn't a complete solution either.

Here's a workaround:
Duplicate the .tsk file, then delete all the tasks you don't want to move, and then merge your new .tsk file with the other .tsk file where you want the task(s) to go.

I agree. I've been using this great tool for over 5 years now and its database is so large (>1000 tasks with an average of 5 effort entries) that even browsing the list became extremely slow. I recently deleted all finished tasks, so the SW responds fast enough, but I don't like this solution. Yes it would be nice to be able to archive tasks of a selected branch (or all finished) to a different file and delete them from the active one. At the moment even copy-paste is not supported between instances of Task Coach...
