I like this idea as well. I made a comment under 'Calendar View' about a daily planner tool but a list that you can reorder tasks on by moving them up and down might be easier to implement.

I think a timeline is best for showing task durations and deadlines. Maybe the timeline needs to have months/days shown at the top so you can see what days have tasks running through them and schedule tasks for days that are free.
I find a calendar layout is best suited for seeing appointments (sort of stand alone tasks i guess typically less than 1 day duration) - would voters find this generally useful?? It might be useful as a daily planner type tool.
I'm voting for months/days on the timeline and a calendar/daily planner type of tool. I think I would find these useful.
