I suggest you make a way to import google tasks from the web and replicate back, so we can keep track on the move, or just export a list to google tasks893 votes
I would like to see more customizable reports in Task Coach, specifically in relation to reporting periods and grouping (by category.)
- Daily summary of effort between Date 1 and Date 2 for all tasks tagged with a selected category.
Currently effort can be filtered by details, day, week or month. Sometimes the month or week that I want to report on does not align with a regular work week. Being able to set the start and end date would be a major improvement.
A tally of the total time spent would also be a nice addition to…551 votes
Being able to re-arrange the displayed columns with a simple drag & drop would be a good feature. Then you could prioritize the columns that are most important to you.462 votes
Re-arranging the order of columns by drag and drop is one of the most requested features for Task Coach. As you may know, our small development team struggles with finding enough time to maintain Task Coach, support users (which we do for free) and develop new features.
We attempted a fundraiser to hire an outside developer to program the feature for us, but the fundraiser was not successful. It was just a test and there are many reasons it could have gone better. We are aware of and are exploring alternative fundraising options in general.
The reason this particular feature is expensive is that it needs change in the underlying wxWidgets framework that we use and needs an outside developer. But there is a lower-cost easy alternative to customizing column order and we will probably implement it soon: we could use the same interface we currently use for customizable toolbars.…
incorporate a preview pane below the task pane showing the task notes and attachments, like the outlook preview pane434 votes
I would like to have a few fields that the default system does not supply. I would be great if I could add my own custom fields.
It would be nice if these fields could have options to be checkboxes or dropdown menus to select from preset options as well as the option to be user-entered alphanumeric information.417 votes
I would like to see a "keyboard shortcuts" option in the preferences menu that allowed the user to use any desired key for an action.
For instance i would prefer to use <cntrl-UP> to increase a task priority instead of <cntrl-I>. Or assign <a> to open attachments...
Thanks again for the great software. I'll pledge 5 EU for implementation.269 votes
I think that some people use the program for the job (as me), and the days
of weekends don't be used for work, but in the attribute column of days
remainding, it count all the week.
For example, I have a task that must be completed before 20 of may of 2009
(Wednesday) and today is 14 of may of 2009 (Thursday), then program mark 6
days left. But in Saturday and Sunday I don't work and therefore I really
have 4 days only.254 votes
Right now (unless I'm missing something) I have to click to select a task, then move up and click the "completed" button in the toolbar.229 votes
Actually, rich text is a proprietary format. What we really want is just to have the description fields support things like bold, italic, headers, bullets, tables, and embedded images. Some other alternatives like Markdown format / HTML would be fine if accessible buttons are available or there's a WYSIWYG mode.221 votes
I suggest adding the option for a new "Edit" viewer. This would be an optional viewer that can placed to be always viewed, similar to other viewers.
This "Edit" viewer would simply be an edit view of whatever object currently has focus (if the object has an edit option).
For example, if a category has focus then the edit options of that category are displayed and edits can be done and saved automatically. If focus is then switched to a task, then the "Edit" viewer will display the editing options for that task. This allows for increased editing efficiency and…180 votes
It would be quite a nice feature to print a single task with all the details and with or without all the subtasks.172 votes
There are always tasks, that needs to be marked as "cancelled" - not completed, but not visible in ToDo.161 votes
I would like to have te ability to sync tasks with Outlook tasks or, at least, import them from time to time.152 votes
....because links can become invalid (Network resources, Outlook Emails). Another reason is: Only this way you can be shure not to delete an attached (cleanup the hard disk...) file before the referring task is deleted. Keep synchronised attachemnts and tasks.
A good implementation:
-Specify a main attachment folder in preferences.
-Each task will have its own, automatically created, subdirectory inside the main attachment location. This subdirectory only gets created if the task has an associated attachment.
-When adding an attachment to the task Task Coach will (optionally):
.....- Create a new subdirectory for the task, if one does not exist.…139 votesAdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) responded
Given the similarity to this request:
I’m going to treat the request HERE as a request to copy or move attached files to a specified directory that will be within the same directory as the .tsk file (or optionally any directory the user specifies)
Each open task file should be thought of as an instance. If I had an "open new window" and "open new tab", it would give me the capability of having multiple task files open at once.
Check out MacOS Safari for how the feature works135 votes
Add an option to connect to an SQL database and store all task data in it. Obviously, data also should be stored locally as a read-only backup in case the database server is down, and eventually to speed up things.113 votes
I'd like to have a place for hyperlinks that connect tasks across the whole Task Coach system. This would make organizing work more like a non-linear concept-web type of thing within the existing Task Coach system.
It would be great to have a way to view a list (or ideally a visual web) of all the other tasks that are linked to a selected one). But the first step is just to include a hyperlink connected to one task that can go to another task.100 votes
Optionally send email as a reminder in addition (or instead of) popping up a reminder dialog.96 votes
