  1. It would be helpful to assign one or more categories to efforts. Possible use: I'm working as a consultant and have set up the project plan in TC. But the billing for my working time is split into "onsite", "remote" and "travelling time". So I would assign a special category to the effort that I'm creating for tasks.
This feature would make TC even more flexible.

  2. I'd like the option on the Edit Task Pane to create subtasks from there, rather than having to select the task, and then Create new sub task.

Probably heresey I know, but something similar to the way Project allows you to create tasks...

  3. I'd love to see widget like buttons that can float on the desktop at all times so that with one click I can start/stop tracking effort.
this would help when I am doing many different jobs at once and changing from task to task often.
Perhaps the ability to create unique widgets depending on the tasks I am working on at any given time

  5. Hi,
Currently , on right clicking any task ,category, etc. , we can open all attachments at once .
It would be better if there is a feature to open any single attachment of our choice.

  6. It would be great to accept a link to the directory taskcoach-templates. I use Task Coach on different machines , with different os (linux, win), and want to have only one directory for the templates. Unfortunately, Task Coach on Windows doesn't accept a link for the Task Coach template directory.

  7. Feature Requests item #2817422
When you have chosen list view, the layout becomes rather cluttered if you have subtasks. I use Task Coach according to the GTD approach. I use the contexts Inbox, Next action, Waiting for, Projects, Someday/Maybe and Reference. Say that I have a project consisting of a task with sub-tasks. Some of the sub-tasks are defined as next action, some are in the category waiting for and so on and so forth. If i click the category "Next action" I only want to see the sub tasks that I have defined as "Next action". The projects (parent…

  8. It would be very neat to see Task Coach support Evidence Based Scheduling. Evidence Based Scheduling would allow users to improve their ability to estimate when a task would get done.

See the following for an excellent description with graphs.

  9. When tasks are numerous, finding a newly created task can be difficult. The focus should be on the new task.

  10. When right-clicking on the icon in the tray, it is currently possible to create tasks (and notes & efforts). I often realize I have more subtasks when I am in the middle of a task, so it would be great to have the same Task-PopUp you have for the possibility to "Start tracking effort" and being able to create subtasks under an existing task/subtask.

  14. I would like to see a "keyboard shortcuts" option in the preferences menu that allowed the user to use any desired key for an action.

For instance i would prefer to use <cntrl-UP> to increase a task priority instead of <cntrl-I>. Or assign <a> to open attachments...

Thanks again for the great software. I'll pledge 5 EU for implementation.

  15. In the "task square map" I would like to see the total time for each "task folder" (those that have subtasks), so I can quickly have an idea of the total time I spent on a project. Moreover, it would be great if the name of the "folder" would always be visible.

  16. When I define a task, I have it with plenty subtasks, some are really tasks some are not really tasks. I would like to have only some of those tasks synced by SyncML, for example giving them a tag (sync).

  17. Currently, clicking a recurring task deletes the "today" version and creates a new task at the next occurrence. For my peace of mind, I'd rather be able to look at my tasks list and see that I have in fact completed the recurring task, and haven't just accidentally moved, deleted, or edited it.

We will almost certainly NOT make duplicate tasks for recurrence, although I know some people may like that idea. Instead, to address this concern, we will consider creating some sort of log of completions, as I mention in my comment below.

  19. Because I color-code the background of tasks based on their categories, it's hard to tell at a glance which task is currently selected--especially since the "highlight" color depends upon the task's "background" color. There ought to be some way to see which task/category/whatever I have selected without relying on color alone.

  20. If the color of an indication sign was changing with different priority, the overview of the most important/urgent tasks would be better visible.

That is e.g., for priority 0 = grey, 1 = black, 2 = green, 3 = red (similar to the color of the circle indicating the different status: completed, overdue,...
