  1. This feature would be an "extension" to the idea of not counting weekends.
I use Task coach in my job, so my point of view is "job-related"
I'd like to have an option in the preferences where one could:
    - select the typical working hours in a day (for example 8-12; 13-17)
    - select the working days in a week
    - exclude some particular days (like national festivities)
This should apply to the time spent in the efforts. I mean, for example:
for some reasons I have to create an effort that lasted the entire week, I spent 40 hours…

  2. Several times a task was selected and to clear selection (to see all categories colors) I have to use the menu. There is a hotkey to select All. Another hotkey to unselect could be nice, also.

  3. I think it could be great a quick way to set one category in the same front tab used to introduce the title and text of a new Task. I always use categories and I have to use the mouse only to set the category.

  4. There is no option to repeat the task on certain days of the week e.g. only workdays.

in my special case i have a job named 'answer emails' and i do it only at workdays...

Also, monthly on the last or before the last workday. Right now the recurrence is day number based, so it would be nice to have more abstract options like possibility to count from the end of months/years, take consideration workdays/weekends as option to count

    more detailed examples:
a.) first tuesday OR thursday of the month (or of the quarter or the year), which is at…

  5. More keyboard hotkeys. The whole point of an effective task manager is to integrate it seamlessly into your day. Keyboard shortcuts allow this.

  6. Allow effort entry by choosing the duration (2hours) rather than specifying start and end times. Thus if u work a 8 hour day; assign time to available tasks to log time to total 8 hours.

This allows you to work on two tasks at once and not have to manipulate the effort timers entry. This data can then be used for report a time-sheet for the week (period) worked.

  8. It would be helpful if the icons in edit task indicated if there are associated records. (e.g Notes, Attachments) for the task being edited.

Another approach would be to indicate how many associated records (e.g. notes and attachments) there are by adding a counter to the icon text (e.g. "Notes (1)")

  10. I request you to add quick add functionality, which allows user to add new row on main screen and provide basic details to create new task instead of opening a new dialog box. Person can double click on task to enter additional details if required.

  12. I think TSV export is far preferable than CSV because of CSV misinterpretation from one national settings to other. This varies with "," or ";" as list separator for several countries.
Also, "," or ";" signs could be confusing while importing to another app when you use those ponctuation signs into notes or task description...
I strongly advice you to implement TSV format into export feature to eliminate those problems...

  14. I'd like to suggest support for the Pomodoro time management technique http://www.pomodorotechnique.com
I’m not an expert in the method but it looks useful, simple and popular.

My initial thoughts are that this can be delivered in phases:

    1) New fields on tasks to a) Estimate number of pomodoros required and b) Increment the number of pomodoros completed
    2) Provide a pomodoro timer. So a user selects a task and starts the pomodoro. The pomodoro flashes or similar to indicate the end. The task pomodoro counter is incremented automatically? A second timer starts for the inter pomodoro break?
    3) Various ways…

  16. Each open task file should be thought of as an instance. If I had an "open new window" and "open new tab", it would give me the capability of having multiple task files open at once.

Check out MacOS Safari for how the feature works

  17. All subtasks stay visible when they are completed, they are only hidden after their parent task is completed.

It will be an additional option of the existent 'Parent Task Behavior'.

  18. A user (boss) creates a task, and assigns it to another user (worker), it could travel through an IM or P2P protocol. A task server/tracker/repository could handle the traffic routing
User (or boss) could set up a "Report status" action(or "report tasks automatically every [update|daily|weekly]"). When Master Task is changed, it is spread through all users involved. Collisions should be accepted manually.
Tasks could be local or remote, single user (using 1 subtask for each user in case there are many users).

  19. In the morning, when I start my computer at work I usually begin with a task like "reading emails". It would be nice not to have to run it manually.
    So I suggest a feature:
    - possibility of setting a default task running at Task Coach startup (when there is no other task running already).

It would be nice also to swith to this default task even if there is other task already running when a date has changed since last change (what means I forgot to stop my tasks at "go home" time the previous day), but not necessary.
