Desktop version (Windows/Linux/Mac) of Task Coach

Welcome to the Task Coach feedback forum. This forum is for the desktop (Windows/Linux/Mac OS X) version of Task Coach. Please stick to basic operation of the program itself. Requests that require the implementation of technology outside of the main program go in the “Other feature request” section.

  1. Meta tasks inherit subtask attributes but have no own attributes like dates or budgets, etc.

While we aren’t going to have a special “meta” status for tasks, the current release no longer makes parent tasks have dates to match subtasks. Instead, parent tasks can have their own date settings but they will be updated in the system to be shown and sorted to match the dates of subtasks.

We’re working on how to show the indications in the look of the parent when collapsed.

But you are now already able to have a meta task basically by simply leaving the dates unmarked.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

  2. The main advantage of Taskcoach over other software is the possibility to arrange tasks schematically. However, if subtasks are due, this is not indicated at the parent tasks. I have to open all tasks to see if subtasks are due. Suggestion: a parent task inherits the child which is due first.

The current release has this partly implemented.

The way it works, when parents are collapsed, it will show due dates from subtasks in parentheses in appropriate columns (other dates too).

But we haven’t figured out the best options for whether to change the icon color or text color of parents based on subtasks. Should just the icon change? Just the text? Only date-related text? When collapsed only or all the time?

Please share any suggestions below in comments. What do you all think is the best way this should work?

  3. Looks like it's pot possible to save the syncml password at the moment - that's really annoying

  4. It would be great to accept a link to the directory taskcoach-templates. I use Task Coach on different machines , with different os (linux, win), and want to have only one directory for the templates. Unfortunately, Task Coach on Windows doesn't accept a link for the Task Coach template directory.
