Welcome to the Task Coach feedback forum. This forum is for the desktop (Windows/Linux/Mac OS X) version of Task Coach. Please stick to basic operation of the program itself. Indeed, the comment below is correct. This has been duplicated. I’d like to have left THIS open because it is older, but I’m closing it in favor of the other request because the other has more votes.

    PLEASE MOVE YOUR VOTES HERE:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/1964563-plugin-based-design-scripts-scriptable-options

    It is unfortunate that the gratis version of UserVoice doesn’t allow merging.

  3. It would be great to have a way to hide old Efforts in the Effort Viewer. Task Coach appears to be getting slower over time, and I expect it is because I have so many Efforts visible in the Effort Viewer. (I have about 15-30 efforts per day.) It would be great if I could filter the Effort Viewer to only show efforts in a given time range (e.g., "the last 3 months" or "this year" or "this week" or "the last ___ days"). With 1653 efforts visible, I am afraid what will happen when that number doubles, triples, and…

  4. I suggest a properties view where you can directly edit the properties of a task. I have seen this feature in the Windows application "ToDoList" - have a look at the bottom of the screenshot where you can directly edit the task properties:

    http://www.codeproject.com/KB/applications/todolist2.aspx

    The properties view should include at least:
    * Task name
    * Task description
    * Task dates
    * Task category
    * People involved in task (if you implement that in Task Coach)

    Task Coach is the best ToDo list application for Linux but that feature is missing in my daily work. I pay 25 € for that…

    1. The task item icons are large there is room to have inside them written the task priority.
    2. I would also love to have the option to have the icon colour be determined by the priority,not just task completion status

    We are not going to implement this request, but there is something that will be functionally close if implemented later:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/306168-possibility-fo-re-arrange-columns-with-drag-and-dr

    Then the priority column could be put to the left of the subject to see priority next to the icons…

    Or, you could vote for this:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/594235-import-new-custom-icons

    Then you could make your own icons and make categories that use icons as you wish (although this won’t fully match the priority idea)

    Otherwise, you can always try to get someone else to implement this. It’s Free-Open-Source software, after all.

    Respectfully, Aaron

  5. Filters are great for controlling what is displayed in a specific viewer, but I think we need more of them. I'd like to see the current filter list expanded
    upon and also the ability to create custom filters.

    As far as how to implement custom filters, I'm imagining a dialog box similar to smart playlists in iTunes. It would allow the user to select almost any of a task's fields then add comparison operators like =, >, <, 'between' for setting up ranges, 'contains' for use as a search filter and so on. Search filters especially would be extremely powerful…

  6. Additional filtering on the categories where you filter on any where the selection is NOT in the task.
    Example: several tasks have several different categories, I would like to see all that do not fall under the category A. I select category A in the list and set the filter on all categories NOT selected. This should show all other tasks.

  7. For better overview, tasks with a lot of subtasks can stay collapsed, but come to attention, if one of these subtasks expires. Now you have to expand the tasks, to see the status of the subtasks.

  8. I have a recurring task that should be done twice a month, on 15th and at the end of the month. I can not set up the task dates within a current task date model.

    To have an option for that schedule, 15th and end of month, would be nice.

    Going forward, consider a new feature where a user can define a list of dates for a task instead of a single date. That will solve cases where the task comes up quarterly, or three times a month, or even handle tasks with completely arbitrary date patterns.

  9. Tasks with the same parent task should be possible to reorder via drag and drop. This idea is split out from the "Better control over task order" which contains many different suggestions.

    This is a duplicate of:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/881243-draggable-drag-and-drop-task-position

    Please consider voting for that instead. Also, there’s a large multi-request idea that includes this:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/289031-better-control-over-task-order

    But that latter request probably should be split into separate requests…

  10. I'd like synchronization with other PCs (like Dropbox) or with a web service (like Remember the Milk). Maybe you could work with them :D

    I use Dropbox and I know they accept addons. You can create one that put Task Coach's database in Dropbox's folder and viceversa to synchronize PCs :)

    You also could see a way to synchronize with Remember the Milk.

  11. Change the categories of selected task(s) from a dropdown menu on the toolbar. Right clicking right now takes you through a very lengthy menu. Double clicking each task can be a chore if you have to make the same change to a group.

  12. I think user interface is one of the weak points with Task Coach. It should be easier, simpler and more clear the way someone approaches and organizes the task manager. Something like this:

    1- A main top panel with mid-size distinctive icons and text under them, where the main functions are shown and these organize the sequence of the task process till the very moment is completed and post-review and analysis options appear. There are 2 levels of interface, basic and advanced.

    2- Days-weeks could be organized from the very beginning in work hours and private hours, differing from persons…

  13. An option to Show efforts on Calendar would be nice. so that you can:
    1- see on calendar when you were actually working on the task in addition to the start and end date of a task.
    2- have an option to see on calendar the tasks you've worked on (with efforts)

  15. I think would be a great addition if we could use task coach on the desktops and syncronise the tasks with central server for project management such web2project.

    this will be a great combination to manage a project and project team.

  17. The most important thing to control during a task execution is:
    -WHAT exactly to do;
    -WHAT you have done.
    The notes in a task can do both.
    Is not a good idea to show notes over the task, dragging a mouse.
    The note view show only notes that are not linked to a task.
    The better solution is a view that show, edit end create notes for a task, because you can code and put a new note in parallel.
    If the notes could be collapsed, will be great.

  19. For easy entry it would be great to return the focus to the active control after pressing ctrl+ins. Now I have to use the mouse to click in the tasktree. This would enable me to quickly add different subtasks tasks
