Import tasks from ical format
The possibility to import tasks via *.ics or even a textfile would be extremely helpful. (To synchronize it e.g. with the calendar)

sync with redmine
I think it would be lovely, if taskcoach could be synchronized with redmine timetracking.
redmine has very nice API to do that, http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/Rest_TimeEntries - so it shouldn't be technical problem.

Persistence layer on SQLite for better performance
I have .tsk file with >300 tasks and >30 categories. On my notebook TaskCoach it very slow works with filtering tasks by categories. Further completed tasks will be greater!
May be write TaskCoach based on SQLite with object-relational mapping (SQLObject,SQLAlchemy,..) for better performance?25 votes -

Multiple active sort criteria (sort by, then by, th...)
Hey,
So I religiously believe in your task manager for my daily functions but i've always had one issue, the need to sort by priority then due date.
Using the logic that one should tackle tasks in this order Urgent + Important > Important > Urgent + Not-Important > Not-Important you should be able to understand the request.
If i had only three priority levels (1-3), 1 being the highest, then i'd want to tackle all the 1's first but first by which one is due soonest, then the 2's again by which one is due soonest, and then if…

http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/371680-save-presets-of-defined-filters-and-sortingIn fact, these are tightly tied. I’m leaving this here open, but I actually think the other request is the mechanism by which this would be functional. Please consider voting for that.

Total Time by Category
Can you add a column that adds all task times for the selected category? Example: I have a parent category with 10 tasks. I would like to see a grand total of time, not just total time per task. Thanks!

Could more date format options with the language chosen be provided, like the one with MS windows?
This will allow the users choose what they wish to use.

Time Format - Allow option for 24-hour for U.S. English
I would like to have the option to display (and enter) time in 24-hour format for U.S. English. I am reluctant to upgrade to the new version that changed this to be 12-hour A.M./P.M. format.
Thanks!

Import functions for freemind mindmaps
I would like to see a import functionality to import freemind mindmaps as task trees.
Freemind is a great/fast and simple mindmapping tool to write ideas down. A import into taskcoach would make the lives of all freemind+taskcoach users easier.20 votes -
Add proxy support to "Check for update"
I'm using Task Coach behind different proxy servers, so it can't check for any update and returned with error 407: Unauthorized.

Column showing only one selected category instead of all categories
It would be nice to be able to add columns showing only one category instead of just all categories.
This opens many possibilities:
- easy toggling a category on/off
- sortingWhen a category has subcategories, the category column could show just the subcategories. If then there is possibility to make subcategories unique (choosing one subcategory unmarks the other subcategories), it's near of having custom user fields, enabling:
- easy choosing a subcategory
- sorting on subcategories19 votes -
A 'Clear Completed Tasks' button or menu option
I often have many completed tasks in my task list by the end of the day, and it's kind of a pain to delete them all.
It would be nice to be able to hit a button and clear all the complete tasks.

Adjust windows and dialogs for netbook (1024x600) screen support.
Many of the dialogs barely fit on the netbook screen, even when dragging the title bar to the top of the screen. Also, the window position is not remembered when re-opening the application (window size is remembered).

Filter tasks by (minimum) priority
Add a way to filter tasks based on their priority. This way it's possible to focus rapidly on what's urgent to do next. When there are many tasks and subtasks, it's better to filter while in "tree view", than having to change to "list view" and sort by priority.
18 voteswe will consider this a request for defining a priority range for filtering

Toolbar button / command for "new task at the same level as selected task"
You can easily create a new top-level task and you can easily create a new sub-task, but you can't easily create a second, third, etc., sub-task at the same sub-task level. You need a button for that.

Keep a "completed" version of recurring tasks in the tasks list
Currently, clicking a recurring task deletes the "today" version and creates a new task at the next occurrence. For my peace of mind, I'd rather be able to look at my tasks list and see that I have in fact completed the recurring task, and haven't just accidentally moved, deleted, or edited it.
17 votesAdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) respondedWe will almost certainly NOT make duplicate tasks for recurrence, although I know some people may like that idea. Instead, to address this concern, we will consider creating some sort of log of completions, as I mention in my comment below.
