Add a Now button to the Edit Effort Window
In the Edit Effort window, it would be nice if there were "Now" buttons next to the start and stop times so that you could click button and it would automatically update the time value in the respective start/stop field to be the current time.
This would often be useful such as when I start a new effort when I begin the effort and type notes as I go along. Then when finished, I could click the "Now" button next to stop time and click OK and be done.
[In other words, clicking the "Now" button next to the start…
3 votesWe have a new date/time control that is already functional in the latest bugfix release and will be in the upcoming 1.3.21 full release.
There is already a button for “stop tracking now” and with the update, you can just press the N key in any date/time field across the program and it will enter the current time!

New item in help menu: "Improve translation
2 new items in Help Menu: "Contribute to the translation"
Below the menu item "Request a feature" there should be implemented 2 new items:
(a) "Contribute to the translation - all languages"
with a link to https://translations.launchpad.net/taskcoach/1.2
(b) "Contribute to the translation - current language"
with a web-link to https://translations.launchpad.net/taskcoach/1.2/+pots/i18n.in/de/+translateThe link should automatically point to the translation page with the actually used version and in case (b) the actually used language.
3 votesRelease 1.2.15 has a “help translate” menu item. The second menu item is a bit tricky because Task Coach and Launchpad don’t always use the same abbreviation for languages. I.e. the current language in Task Coach may be nl_NL, but on Launchpad it would be just nl. Stripping the NL isn’t always possible, e.g. for ptBR. So, too much complexity for a simple menu item.

New item in help menu: "Check for Updates"
Below the Help Menu item "About Task Coach..." there should be implemented another new item: "Check for Updates", ideally with an automatical function "Install new portable version" in the same directory "....".

More flexible repeating task options
It would be great for me to be able to set a task to show up on my task list x amount of time after it is completed, rather than after it is starting. I have so many floating tasks that should get done about once a week. Another option would be to set a task to pop up at completion with a dialogue asking for the details of the next occurrence.
3 votesAnd this is really a duplicate of this:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/289034-task-recurrence-based-on-the-date-of-completionAlthough there does exist a separate idea about recurrence based on amount of time with higher resolution than days… but I’m thinking about that, so it may happen at some point…
Thanks for your request. Please let us know if there is something you want that the latest version doesn’t do and no other request already covers.

Expand / Collapse all
I would love the ability to expand / collapse all tasks in the task tree. My list is getting pretty unwieldy and I need and quick and easy way to remove and add back all the detail with a single click.

Stop time in the effort window
Up to the TC version 1.0.10 (OS Windows) the stop time in effort windows was re-assigned to current time when the check box was re-checked.
Could you put this feature back on ?
Thanks !3 votesAvailable in release 1.2.26.

add the state 'Active' for a task
I'd like to filter the subset of tasks I'm working on;
as easily as i can filter out Completed tasks.Today, a task has Two states: Not 'completed' / 'Completed'
You could add the new state 'Active'
thus a task would have 3 states:
'Completed' , 'Active' Default: 'inactive'3 votesThis is already the case: tasks with a start date in the past and a fue date in the future are active.

Control over fonts when editing a task
There has already been a suggestion about font sizes and a note to say that this was dealt with in release 0.78, but I don't think that change really addressed the issue, at least not the one that I have.
As far as I can see, Task Coach only allows you to change the font that's used in the Task view. I would like to be able to change the font that's used when I edit a task. I particularly want the "Description" text to be larger because I use this to store notes about the task, although I don't…
3 votesThanks to a patch supplied by Nicola Chiapolini, there is now a system preference for font details for the description text in v. 1.3.18

add period of time for efforts
When I create a new effort, after setting the Start time I'd like not to set the end time I'd prefer to set a period of time from the start event.
e.g. add 1:45 to the start time.3 votesThis is now complete! It will be released in the new v. 1.3.21
Cheers!

show only "soon", "too late", etc.
It would be interesting to be able to hide the led in gray, but keeping the orange and/or red one as there are supposed to be done later while the others are due within few hours
3 votesThis is already possible. Use the “Hide inactive tasks” toolbar button (the grey led on the toolbar of each task viewer).

improve compatibility with outlook by ...
2 things that might improve compatibility with outlook:
Split the CVS field for dates (eg start date) to "date" and "time" (outlook asks how to import a CVS and wants 2 separate fields)
If a task has a start and a due date then presumably it can be seen as an "appointment", then label it in the icalendar file (ics) as VENENT rather than a VTODO. The due date should also be labeled as DTEND in order for this to work. VTODO is not recognised by outlook 2007 and earlier, mb even by outlook 2010 (I dont have it). I…
3 votesNr. 1 is available in the latest release. Nr. 2 is rejected. Tasks are best represented by VTODO. I don’t want to abuse a perfectly good standard to accomodate another tool.

Toggle tracking on standby OR Cli to start/stop tracking
Could you add a feature such that when the computer is put into standby it stops tracking the current task and upon resume begins tracking the current task.
If this is troublesome then would it be possible to create cli switches with the app such that i could call taskcoach.exe -tracking start and taskcoach.exe -tracking stop. With this I can set my own conditions for tracking etc using windows task scheduler.
Thanks
