Enable multi-user Task Management
Hi,
Currently, when 2 (or more) users are opening the same file, a change one
made is not seen by the other, until he re-opens the application.A "push tier" is one possible solution to pass changes to the other users.
Best regards,

Better control over task order
I think there should be a smoother way to re-order tasks. I'm a bit long-winded here, but I do think finding a way to address this would be a major improvement for taskcoach...
Here's how i see the problem: Task dependency (not yet implemented) partially address this, but falls short if you plan to tackle subtasks from more than one parent task in the short term. Priority is helpful, but falls short in that you have to manually go in and increase or decrease tasks one at a time to get them into an order of what you would like…

Task Activity log
I'd like to see a facility to add log entries to a task. This would allow short notes to be attached to tasks as I work on them. These log entries should be date and time stamped to give the user a feel for the flow of activity.
Such a feature would be a huge help for many, I suspect who need a feature to help remember what got done to a task and when it happened, even though the task itself is not yet done.
372 votesThis is possible already.
Instead of tracking efforts by just clicking the track button or by using cntl-T, use cntrl-E instead. That will open a new effort, complete with the ability to add text notes to the description for each effort.
You can see a log of efforts by making an effort viewer in View>New Viewer, and you can include a description column in that viewer. You can filter by both category and by text search.
You will probably want to show the description column in the task edit window’s effort tab. You can adjust this by right-clicking in the column header.
If you want instead to make notes that are not tied to efforts, then you might want to vote for this request for adding a date marker to notes:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/297451-add-a-column-date-in-the-notes-window-to-show-whSo I am marking this complete. Please add any comments below if you think there is still something…

Calendar view
Feature Requests item #1959184 Submitted By: Rahul Basu (rahul_basu)
It would be great to be able to view all tasks and deadlines on a single calendar. What I mean is that besides having a list of tasks, you should be able to see them on a calendar with the start dates and due dates listed.
Also, this isn't quite on topic, but, it would be good to be able to create one-time events viewable on this calendar (example: meeting with customer, math test, etc.)Feature Requests item #1452071 By: Alex Greif (greifa)
create a new tab (beside taskList taskTree, Effort)…276 votesRelease 1.0.0 adds a calendar viewer.

Task status and start dates based on Task Dependency and set task duration
A task's start date, end date, and status should be able to change based on its relationship to other task(s). For example, if a task will require 3 days to complete but cannot begin until a preceding task is complete, then the 3 day task should stay in status "inactive" until the preceding task completes, and then Task Coach automatically changes the dependent task's status to "active" and sets the start and end date accordingly based on the user-provided duration for the task (i.e. 3 days).
Task Coach should be able to provide estimated start and end dates for all…

Export to iCalendar ical format
Thunderbird's calendar program (and others) support the newer iCalendar file format. By adding support for this export format it should provide the ability for users to view their tasks in a calendar format without making huge changes to the task coach program. (by using calendar tools to do the UI for that mode.) Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_applications_with_iCalendar_support
222 votesTask Coach is able to export tasks and efforts to the iCalendar format. Tasks are exported as VTODO and efforts to VEVENT objects.

Mark task completed with a line through it
I would like to be able to mark completed task with a line through it just like I would cross it off a paper list. Right now it just changes color. You might want to make this optional but I'm betting if it was available most people would use it.
206 votesRelease 1.2.19 allows you to change the foreground color, background color, icon and font of tasks for each of the states: active, inactive, completed, over due and due soon.

Task Recurrence based on the Date of Completion
I'm missing a feature which is part of Outlook's Task Scheduler.
When marking a task with a given period for recurrency as done i.e. completed the task should be rescheduled based on the date of completion.

Task Effort and PC Idle Warning
If a task is having its effort tracked and the PC is idle for a user-configured time period, task coach should pop up a warning to either 1. Continue tracking effort, 2. Stop tracking effort at the timeout time, 3. start tracking a new effort. So if I go to lunch and forget to stop tracking effort for a task, when I return Task Coach has reminded me of that ....

Add a status field (e.g., In Progress, Awaiting, Completed)
I think it'd be helpful to add a new Status field. Other task management tools have this. It would be nice to easily mark a task as "In Progress" or "Completed" or "Awaiting Feedback" or "Postponed" etc. It would be nice to then be able to sort/filter based on this field.
65 votesRelease 0.77.0 allows for mutual exclusive subcategories so that you can create your own status field. Status can be changed using the right-click context menu (“Toggle category”).

Mass editing of any field on multiple tasks
I would like to be able to select multiple tasks, bring up the edit function, and have all fields available -- but have any changes mass edit all selected tasks.
Currently, if several tasks are selected, choosing edit function brings up the tasks one at a time for editing.
56 votesRelease 1.1 supports mass editing of tasks, notes, categories, etc.

Percentage completed

Add a field/column for creation date (and also modification date)
This would enable us to better trace the status of subjects and tasks by entering notes which would be sorted and marked for creation date.
This is also useful when creating an inbox for the GTD methodology, and it would be nice to sort newly entered tasks by the creation date.
38 votesWork on this currently in progress!
Creation date is now included as of v. 1.3.21, and v. 1,3.23 will have modification date (already testable in the latest bugfix version at http://www.fraca7.net/TaskCoach-packages/latest_bugfixes.py )Cheers,

draggable / drag and drop task position
I suggest you create a feature that lets you adjust the position of a task by being able to drag and drop. This idea is split out from the "Better control over task order" which contains many different suggestions.
32 votesThis is now in the latest version od the daily bugfix and fully working, the final release will be in the next minor point release of Task Coach!

Task start & end times
Please allow specifying the start time as well as the start date for a
task. Tasks would remain color coded as future tasks until both the start
date and time have been reached. That allows graceful handling of things like tasks that need to be done
daily at 2:00, or every Wednesday at 3:00.
Adding an end time allows for handling of tasks due at a certain time not just "today".This is an expansion of a feature request that was closed:

Configurable first day of the week
Task Coach assumes that Monday is the first day of the week for the
purposes of showing "Effort per week". Our work week actually starts
Sunday & ends Saturday. It'd be nice if one could configure the first day
of the week.26 votesThis is available in release 1.3.10.
