I LOVE this product. The only item missing, for me at least, is some place to be able to record a charge code by effort/task
Add a effort and task level charge code field.

Otherwise, here are a couple related requests:
Thanks for your feedback, I hope we can get to these some day. For now, there are workarounds (as a comment in one of those links mentions) such as recording your own code in descriptions.
Cheers

Show task description in separate pane
I just migrated from Abstractspoon's ToDoList and I use the task description a lot. It would be perfect to have a pane that simply displays an edit window with the description for the currently selected task.

Un/select all in category view
Hello and thanks for that great piece of software.
If I'm not mistaking, there is no way to quickly select all categories (or unselect all). Would it be possible to add it? This is very useful for workflow, for instance I use Taskcoach both for work and private stuff, so I have one category private but many for work. Quickly selecting all then unselecting private is a quick way to only view work-related tasks while at work.
Best regards,
Thomas

Please make a backup function tasks, categories, calendar automatically on a schedule, such as in LeaderTask
Please make a backup function tasks, categories, calendar automatically on a schedule, such as in LeaderTask
1 voteBackups are now (as of v. 1.4) always on anyway. We’re not going to make a limited schedule. There’s already backups being made automatically, and you can restore from a backup with File > manage backups

1 voteI don’t really understand your post. The language is hard to follow. It sounds like a support request or bug, so please post your request at https://sourceforge.net/p/taskcoach/support-requests/
Thanks

I would like to see an option that shows how many hours/minutes you have spent in for example a day, week or month, regardless of the tasks
I would like to see an option that shows how many hours/minutes you have spent in for example a day, week or month, regardless of the tasks
1 voteWe don’t need to do this as a separate feature if we build this: https://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/342012-filter-tasks-and-efforts-by-date-range
That request is to filter by date-range, so then you could see only a certain range of items and the status bar would provide the totals for that range.
Please consider voting for that request.
Thanks,

add owner to task
each task should have an owner.
1 voteNote that is already possible: create a categories and subcategories for departments and persons and assign tasks to the category corresponding to the person responsible for the task.
Otherwise, this other request exists:

Save windows positions
Ubuntu 16.04 version 1.4.3 doesn't work
1 voteTask Coach is a single-window program. It doesn’t have multiple windows with positions to save. If you open a new viewer, it starts floating just so you can drag it into place as a pane or tab. When you put it in place, the position is saved after you close Task Coach.
If you have further trouble with this, open a support request at https://sourceforge.net/p/taskcoach/support-requests

Add the software to f-droid android foss repository.
Would you be willing to publish your app in f-droid android foss repository? (I do not have play store and would be nice for f-droid community)
1 voteI’m sorry we can’t. The real Task Coach program is only for macOS, GNU/Linux, and Windows. The “Task Coach” program in the Google Play store is not made by us! It was made by someone else wanting an Android version and who worked without directly collaborating. They also have not yet released the software as free software!
We need to sometime try to go back to reach out to them to get it freed. But it’s not our software. This is quite awkward as you could understand.
But, we would certainly put Task Coach in F-Droid if we had made an Android version…
Anyone who wants to make a full free-software Android version would be welcome to and we would be happy to collaborate where we can.

Keep list of tasks at top when a task is marked Completed
I order my task list by Due date. This means of course that the next tasks to be done are at the top of the list.
When I mark a recurring task as Complete, the task list keeps focus on this task.
However this task is now far down the list of tasks, and so the window of the list of tasks is no longer showing the next tasks to do at the top of the list.
So every time I mark a task as Complete, the task list shifts focus away from the next tasks to be done, and…
1 voteI’m sorry, this is not doable the way Task Coach works. Recurring tasks are done by changing the dates when you mark complete and not keeping the completed state. So, when you mark a recurring task complete, it becomes a task with later dates and not complete.
There are a couple workarounds though:
(A) put the tasks as subtasks of an overall recurring task. Do NOT mark the subtasks as recurring, only the top-level task. I do this for a task called “daily”. When I mark a task complete in this case, it STAYS complete (and stays in the listing in the same place!) then, when I later mark the top-level task complete (or it automatically does when all the subtasks are done), THEN it resets the dates of all the subtasks for the next time.
That’s probably how you want it to work, but other much more clunky option…

Add "Refresh" button
When I change dates for a task, the changes are shown instantly but the sort order is not updated to reflect the changes.
Similarly, when I leave my computer on for the night, Task Coach does not update the tasks to reflect the fact that it's a new day and some things should now be due or overdue.
Switching the display format (task list/ task tree) redraws everything properly, but that's a little cumbersome.
Ideally, I wouldn't have to worry about this at all (clean up the internal notifications?), but as a quick fix I'd be more than happy with…

Change due date by context sensitive menu
If you want to move a due date to the near future you actually need to open the task and than change the dates and save it - it would be much easier to change it by the context menu - so you can have a menu item "change dates" -> due date / starting date etc. -> and than a selection of 1 Day, 2 Days, 1 Week, 1 Month -> so the due date or the other selected date are moved in the future by the selected amount of time.

Force dialog to enter description on effort stop
Option in preferences that would force "edit Effort" for adding Description when Effort is stopped. This would be good to help putting notes from what has been done on that effort to get task done.

Provide a multi-task edit feature
Select several tasks and then change various parameters for all tasks to the same value. e.g. Change "category" for a bunch of tasks to the same new value.
