Halt Task when the computer is shut down
There should be an option to automatically halt the task activity when the computer is shut down and continue when it is restarted.
Otherwise, the time field makes little sense to me when it comes to tracking my working activities.
Note: you can already get a functional workaround for this with the idle-time notice in the preferences. It will bring up a pop-up after you come back to the computer that will allow you to stop the task at the time the computer previously shut down and to optionally restart it later.
Keep in mind that many users may want to be able to track something while the computer is idle (to track non-computer tasks), and this feature allows that while an automatic halt does not.
Do you still like want this option for automatic halt, given the existing idle time notice?

I have the same issue as OP. I usually forget to manually shut down a task when I shut down the PC. This means that I every morning need to open the task coach and manually reset the current task stop time to what I think I remember was the shut down time.
What is there is an option "Stop current task when computer is shut down" somewhere in the settings ? I beleive this would fix the issue for all users, right ? -

Yes, I still need this option since the other one does not work (in the current version 1.3.18): When I shut down my computer and restart I do not see any pop-up, whereas I do when the pc returns from hibernate mode.
As my purpose is mostly tracking time on the pc I would also be happy with your solution, as soon as it functions correctly.

It's fair to note the difference, but know that shut down does count as idle time, it's like a special type of idle-time. And we might consider another special category: Task Coach being quit — that actually would be easier to control in the program than shut down I suspect.

It's a difference between idle-time and shut down of the computer. So I'm still interested in the new option.
