Keep a "completed" version of recurring tasks in the tasks list
Currently, clicking a recurring task deletes the "today" version and creates a new task at the next occurrence. For my peace of mind, I'd rather be able to look at my tasks list and see that I have in fact completed the recurring task, and haven't just accidentally moved, deleted, or edited it.

We will almost certainly NOT make duplicate tasks for recurrence, although I know some people may like that idea. Instead, to address this concern, we will consider creating some sort of log of completions, as I mention in my comment below.

Thinking more about this, I prefer the idea of *logging completions in the effort log* but not otherwise keeping any separate task. I have plans to eventually request that with some more details as a separate request maybe…

CStrolia,
Thanks! That's a great workaround. What you are doing is effectively making recurring tasks work as re-created tasks, such as how some other task programs do recurrence.I suppose it might be nice to eventually have an automated version of your workaround, which would effectively allow the option of either style of recurrance!

I came up with a workaround until this is done.
1. Create a task template for the task you want to do
2. Create a recurring task that reminds you to create a task using the template you just created.
3. Mark the recurring task complete (new task will generate for the next time you will create a task from the template)
4. Use the task created from the template to log actions and track time spent.
If you need me to elaborate, let me know. -

Yes, I like to keep track of whether I completed a task and when, plus I may want to associate notes with a particular occurrence of the task if something did not go as planned, for instance.
Love the app, BTW. -

And it would also be nice if a recurring task was shown with all its occurences in the calendar view, instead of just the next one

Yeah, there's another request in here about automatically deleting all but the X most recent backup files too. Same sort of disk-space consciousness issue. I'd rather not fill my hard drive with backup tasks lists and completed to-dos, but I think a certain amount of security is warranted. (Cries out for a prefpane option, if you ask me.) ;-)

makes sense to me... there are definitely some inconsistencies with how recurring tasks are handled (I have a request open to fix how budgeted time is handled for recurring tasks).
Only downside is that your task file grows larger automatically and there is no current way to automatically delete completed tasks after a certain period.
