Global hotkey to bring to front
More keyboard hotkeys. The whole point of an effective task manager is to integrate it seamlessly into your day. Keyboard shortcuts allow this.

Set the category more easily
I think it could be great a quick way to set one category in the same front tab used to introduce the title and text of a new Task. I always use categories and I have to use the mouse only to set the category.

Ability to move selected tasks to a different .tsk file
It would be nice if I could right-click a task and/or have a command in the file menu of "Move to..." and could then select a different .tsk file that the selection gets moved into.
This would make it a cinch to move tasks to an archive or just move them for other purposes. Perhaps a "Copy to..." could be considered as well (like the difference between copy-paste versus cut-paste).

Efforts in calendar view
I'd like a view, like calendar view, not for tasks, but for efforts.
[admin note: another closed request for including efforts in the regular calendar is being merged with this idea. A good implementation should allow either effort-only or efforts + tasks views]

Display Progress as Progressbar
Hi,
I thought that it might be helpful if the user could look at the task list, and visually see what needs attending to. The column for progress can show the numerical percentage superimposed on a progressbar. It would also be helpful of the progress bar colors for both completed and uncompleted could chosen as a preference, so that the user could choose warning colors for uncompleted if they want.

Make templates directory configurable
It would be great to accept a link to the directory taskcoach-templates. I use Task Coach on different machines , with different os (linux, win), and want to have only one directory for the templates. Unfortunately, Task Coach on Windows doesn't accept a link for the Task Coach template directory.

Save and reapply custom layouts
Why not add a possibility to save the settings for:
- columns shown
- view setting (list | tree / all | any checked / ...)°
- sort order
- filter settings
- viewers visible
- categories chosen
If then there is a drop down box with the list of saved layout settings, you can easily switch between different layouts !° now these settings only can be set by a drop down box on the viewers toolbar. If the viewers window is small, you can't see it. Maybe the choices also could be added to the 'View' menu, so…

Ability to enter multiple tasks via text input
What I would really like is to be able to past a simple list of tasks from a text file into Task Coach. New tasks created in this way would simply have default attributes. Thanks!

Full Address book / contacts list
It would be useful to get adress book with option to choose company/person, +fields for "adress","tel","fax" & fields for free designing. Adress book schould be programmed as a new Viewer. Also there should be an opportunity to select several companies/persons for each Subject :)

Week number
I couldn' find the way to display the week number in any TaskCoach views. This would be helpful in production environments where several partners have the habit to talk like "delivery in week numer 22" (meaning between 30th of may and 3rd of june 2011).
For the moment, I created one task per week in a special category. The name of the task is the number of the week : W12, W13, W14, etc.
It would be nice and pro to have the week numbers shown on a line under the month in the calendar view, as well as in…16 votes -
Time over budget alert
It could be handy to be alerted when a time tracked task runs beyond the time budgeted. Perhaps by a desktop alert of simply changing the system tray icon red and/or an alarm sound. This would be particularly useful for contract tasks where additional time spent cannot be charged for.

Use clipboard/command line to insert new task
Give a quick way to insert a new task without going through Insert new task menu
For instance, use Clipboard (use current XML structure of tsk file) or add a command line with taskcoach to insert a task / sub task15 votesAdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) respondedI’m leaving this open because it is somewhat separate, but it is very connected to this:

Add direct cost to a task
It would be great if you can add certain costs (not work hours, but eg 3rd party invoices) to tasks, so when the task is finished you have a complete overview of the direct costs that were involved.

sub-tasks automatically inherit parent prerequisites when created or moved
it'd be nice to have new sub-tasks inherit their parent task's prerequisites. it gets tedious adding prereqs when the tree isn't already expanded in the prerequisite choosing screen.

when setting planned time, mechanism for spreading out tasks
When a new task has to be created, one of my first concern is "When can I do it ?" Eventually, I specify a date but I don't really know what is my workload for that day.
So I suggest :
* a mecanism that would give a warning if a threshold of X number of budgeted time (or a percentage of the day) is passed per day
* consequently, a way to spot the next free window for the budgeted task14 votes -
Improve the Timeline
EDIT: The way the timeline will be improved is by implementing this:
http://thetimelineproj.sourceforge.netVotes for the request here will be considered a vote for implementing that change.
FROM THE ORIGINAL REQUEST:
It would be useful to be able to zoom in the "Timeline" viewer (zoom mode selection: vertical; horizontal; unconstrained) by dragging two bars (vertical and horizontal) or a window (unconstrained) or by using the mouse scroll wheel.
Once zoomed, it would be useful to pan the view (for eg. by holding in the right mouse button and dragging).
It would also be useful to be able to view one…
