          this would be possible if User defined hot keys were implemented (http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/289007-user-defined-hotkeys-keyboard-shortcuts-), esp. the comment using [meta]-[T] (for example) to create a new task or effort.

            @frank: yes, Gimp has the same feature, called "dynamic keyboard shortcuts", though it's not enabled by default. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/gimptutorials/tp/dynamic-shortcuts.htm and http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-concepts-shortcuts.html

            +1, especially if the windows meta key can be used (For example I'd like [Win]+[T] for open new task regardless of what application currently has focus).
