Well, I don't see subtasks such a problem. First not everyone uses subtasks that much. I never use them myself since while working in complex projects I do prefer Xmind or a project management option. Even if you use the subtasks option I'm sure this means max. 20% of the tasks people want to remember / organize / track.

On the other hand, Toodledo allows you within the free version to organize the tasks with several levels, folders, tags, contexts, and a long etc. This lets you not only create flexible and fast subtasks structures but also, and no less important, to double-cross subtasks levels within main tasks which require at the same time equal subtasks getting done.

Even in case someone would require massive subtasks functionality as Task Coach provides I don't see those 15 $ a year such a problem compared to the lack of multi-platform / -mobile sync (Android included). As a problem I see this last one much bigger and troublesome than the first.

Since the Toodledo plugin is opensource could be it wouldn't be such a problem to check the code out (http://sourceforge.net/projects/taskunifier/develop) and see if it could be easily implemented in Task Coach.

This would solve for the time being the Android-issue for all those people who are eager to synchronize and stay tuned wherever they go. Or those who work depending on the time or day at different locations.

Reaching that level and letting people being able to choose between the subtasks, subscription or the free synchronizing option would be a great improvement for the program.

Could be I'm missing something but since SyncML doesn't reach tasks sync. with Android (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SyncML) even Funambol and Synthesis do claim to fully sync. with it; and since it looks like the Task Coach Android version won't arrive in a near future (could be also not in a far future, please correct me if I'm wrong) I only see this door as a way to work with tasks fully synchronized. I guess many of the 620 Android users on the other side of the forum would probably agree.

Anyhow, thanks a lot for the great work and for checking this option!

An update. Importing in CVS format gives you the chance to rearrange all Task Coach fields and tags as you do prefer within Toodledo. They will be directly 'translated'. Great functionality!

Toodledo is probably right now the most realistic option for Task Coach to add Android support and / or synchronization (http://www.toodledo.com/index.php?f=1). From the free subscription you can get a lot and from there on synchronize to an everyday more growing "community" of Toodledo compatible Android Task Apps (http://www.toodledo.com/connections.php and http://www.todolist.co/compare.html) together with all kind of third-party applications. Even RTM is loosing the battle against this rich yet simple cloud-to-everything free task synchronizer. Higher functionality can be reached by year subscription, but not needed for the most of users.

Already tried on Mac , Win7 and Linx... and Android, of course...works awesome!

Re-arranging the order of columns by drag and drop is one of the most requested features for Task Coach. As you may know, our small development team struggles with finding enough time to maintain Task Coach, support users (which we do for free) and develop new features.

We attempted a fundraiser to hire an outside developer to program the feature for us, but the fundraiser was not successful. It was just a test and there are many reasons it could have gone better. We are aware of and are exploring alternative fundraising options in general.

The reason this particular feature is expensive is that it needs change in the underlying wxWidgets framework that we use and needs an outside developer. But there is a lower-cost easy alternative to customizing column order and we will probably implement it soon: we could use the same interface we currently use for customizable toolbars.…
