This is an important request, and I think it goes hand-in-hand with this:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/371680-save-presets-of-defined-filters-and-sortingBut I think instead of viewers controlling time for “due soon” I prefer the idea of a per-task override for due-soon timing. But that’s a separate issue.

An error occurred while saving the comment Pfolmer commentedI now found a workaround for this annoying issue:
Given, the TaskCoach window is not moved or resized and the task structure stays the same, an AutoHotkey script can bring it to the front, click at the "Start Tracking" symbol (via window pixel coordinates), and select the task to track by sending UP/DOWN/RIGHT keystrokes. In fact, that is a really, really dirty solution.
It would help a lot, if the "Start Tracking" symbol would have a occurence at the menus -- then one could select it by its text: ClickMenu(Actions, Start tracking for..., Project 1, Subproject 3, Task 5).
Would that be possible?Pfolmer shared this idea · -

While we aren’t going to have a special “meta” status for tasks, the current release no longer makes parent tasks have dates to match subtasks. Instead, parent tasks can have their own date settings but they will be updated in the system to be shown and sorted to match the dates of subtasks.
We’re working on how to show the indications in the look of the parent when collapsed.
But you are now already able to have a meta task basically by simply leaving the dates unmarked.
Cheers,

<<Will there be an option like "mark task as inactive if all child tasks are inactive", like Lisa said it?
Pfolmer supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Pfolmer commentedI would like that too!
Especially like Lisa said it. -

We will almost certainly NOT make duplicate tasks for recurrence, although I know some people may like that idea. Instead, to address this concern, we will consider creating some sort of log of completions, as I mention in my comment below.

Is there any opinion on this? I think, such a mechanism could drastically improve the handiness of the auto-save feature.
