    So, basically:
use the rounding feature for efforts as the basis for calculating revenue.

I edited your request to make it clear that you mean automatic tracking, right?

Personally, I made a special task called "ongoing" which never really gets completed (it's really a category I guess, but I liked having it consolidated), and I have a subtask called "misc internet browsing" which I use to track that. But I still have to manually remember to track.

I actually love your idea, but know that it is probably one of the most technically challenging of all the requests, so it is unlikely to be implemented any time soon…

You can basically do this already if you are doing effort tracking.
Each effort can have a description, and if you start the effort with cntl-E, then right when you come back to stop it, there's the place for entering the description already open.

If I understand right, you want the same thing for a record of completing a task.

But otherwise you can always manually add a regular note whenever you complete a task.

I agree very much with this request.

    A side idea:
Currently, cntrl-E on a task that is *already* being tracked makes it DOUBLE-tracked. Since that is so extremely rare, that setting could be left to actually opening the task editor and manually making a second effort object.
So, it could be nice if cntrl-E on a task already being tracked would open the editor for that task's present effort, thus allowing it to be stopped.

I still think a right-click on the tray icon to select which task to stop is a good idea.

    This is a fine request.
I also think the issue here might be solved for some users if my request were implemented:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/3066152-indicate-subtask-number-and-status-next-to-parent-

I think TrungTN got it almost complete (see comment below).
This would be fully functional after this other request is implemented to allow hiding select categories:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/563259-show-all-but-selected-categories

Another workaround, similar to other requests about archiving, is to remove the tasks entirely, but you could first archive them by:

Select the tasks and choose File > Save selection…
This will export the tasks to a new .tsk file, and then the tasks could be deleted.
To keep adding to the same collection of archived or cancelled tasks (without having to manually merge every time), there's this other request:
    https://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/457886-ability-to-move-selected-tasks-to-a-different-tsk

I know this is not for people who want to keep these tasks in their normal list but just marked differently, but some people might appreciate it.

I think this means basically a daily log of all actions.

Perhaps it would be visually organized in some way and be selective or customizable in what data it shows. Maybe there would be options for how to organize the information.

This is an important and valid request.

What they mean is like how when you install software sometimes there is something like "fonts" for example, and when they are all chosen for installation, the heading is marked with a check, when none are chosen the heading is unchecked, but when some fonts are chosen for installation and others not chosen, then the heading has some sort of partial-check indication.

The user isn't complaining about tasks getting marked with categories that are checked. They are complaining that they forgot that a category filter was on because it was hidden under a collapsed parent category and there was no visual indication in the category list that there was any filtering happening at all.

On a side note, I think this should be implemented but I would hope that the visual indication chosen won't conflict with implementing my suggestion that I included in the request for full boolean filtering:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/563259-show-all-but-selected-categories-full-boolean-and

Anyway, the request here isn't specific to how the issue is resolved. The user just wants to see easily that filtering is taking place even when composite categories are collapsed. One idea they mention is forcing the showing of just the checked categories so that all filtering that is happening is very apparent. That way of doing it wouldn't conflict with my boolean request.

Oh, I didn't even think about the "save selection"… yeah.

So the current workaround could be save selection, then open the other .tsk file and merge it with the saved export.

But I like the idea of a way to just move tasks to a different .tsk file. It would simply be an automated version of this workaround.

I edited the request to make it more clear.

    Here's a workaround:

Duplicate the .tsk file, then delete all the tasks you don't want to move, and then merge your new .tsk file with the other .tsk file where you want the task(s) to go.

Could you please elaborate more on what you mean and how this would work differently from the current TC behavior? Thanks.

Ok, so this request is still valid, it is not complete.

One idea I have on how to implement this request:
The snooze window could have just a dropdown for minutes/hours/days/weeks and a separate dropdown for numbers that could also be entered by typing.

If this is done right, it would allow typing a number and then hitting tab to highlight the minutes/hours/days/weeks dropdown and then typing the first letter should automatically select the appropriate part of the dropdown menu.

Typing in the snooze box disabling the reminder sounds like a bug.
    Perhaps that's been fixed.
It works fine for me to type a number in the snooze box.

I removed the second request from this. Please try to keep requests to specific ideas or to ideas that are fundamentally connected.

Regarding the idea of moving tasks up and down with keyboard, just sort by priority and use cntrl-I for increase and cntrl-D for decrease to move things around with the keyboard. Otherwise, there is a separate request for draggable task order:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/881243-draggable-drag-and-drop-task-position

I'd like this, but only if notes that were from tasks or categories were able to be segregated or an option was included to show or hide them.

I'm guessing you mean showing in the tabs of the task editor whether a particular aspect has any settings…

So some sort of highlight of the tab itself maybe to indicate that there are in fact efforts within this task, or that there are notes, or that categories have been marked, or maybe colorize the date tab to indicate whether the task has planned or due dates or reminders set.

Seems to me like an interesting idea. I'd like to see the number idea in the columns of the task viewer too. And there's another related request for showing icon-only versions of columns in order to have a similar info:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/3071426-add-icon-only-iconized-option-for-most-columns

I think all these ideas could work well together if done right.

    @poeschi

By project do you mean entire .tsk file, or do you mean task?

    Is this what you mean:
You want to have weekdays-only versus all-days as a default choice in the preferences but be able to override the default for any task?

I think this means a way to export an appearance preset so that another user can get matched appearance for a category on their system.

When exporting to HTML, you get this effect, and that could then copy and paste text too. So there's a workaround…
