Do not show all parent tasks in the subject column in list view, just the bottom one
Feature Requests item #2817422
When you have chosen list view, the layout becomes rather cluttered if you have subtasks. I use Task Coach according to the GTD approach. I use the contexts Inbox, Next action, Waiting for, Projects, Someday/Maybe and Reference. Say that I have a project consisting of a task with sub-tasks. Some of the sub-tasks are defined as next action, some are in the category waiting for and so on and so forth. If i click the category "Next action" I only want to see the sub tasks that I have defined as "Next action". The projects (parent tasks) are not that interesting to me at this point. An easier way to display this, would be to be able to view the projects in a separate column to keep the clutter to a minimum.

Maybe a new option in view selection (tree of task/list of task) named simple list? where the subject display only the name of the task instead of full path.

Isn't "View => Filter => Hide composite tasks" what you're looking for ?

Yes, need "View\List Options\Show entire path of task for subject column" !
Now I use "View\Filter\Hide composite tasks" which work only for "List view" and the little hack of source code [taskcoachlib/gui/viewer/task.py]:
def renderSubject(self, task):
return task.subject(recursive=not self.isTreeViewer())
replace to:
def renderSubject(self, task):
return task.subject() -

Yes, I agree with this feature request. The category column becomes very cluttered when you are displaying a category that is nested under several parent categories. I would like an option to display just the category, without showing the entire path. This could be implemented as an option in the column selection dialog. For example: "Show entire path for this column". If this option is enabled, you get the entire path, otherwise, just the bottom-most item. This same logic would apply to the Preqrequisites/Dependencies columns. I've started playing around with dependencies in the latest development build and I'm finding that these columns are pretty much useless when an item is dependent upon another item that is nested under several parent items. I'd like to be able to display the actual task that a given task is dependent upon, without trying to display the entire path in the column.

A way to keep the user interface as clean as possible would be to be able to view categories and parent tasks (when applicable) in columns. Then, when you look at list view, you do not need to show the entire search path for each sub-task, just the subtask itself and then the parent task could be in a separate column.
