default priority setting
It would be useful to have default priority setting in preferences. I use the scale 0-6 with 3 being normal priority.
Simply use -3 to 3 with 0 being the default.

UPDATE: I just do a select all (CTRL+A) and can decrease all their priorities down back to where 0 is the default like suggested (CTRL+D many times) while keeping their relative positions. Thanks and God bless!

This feature may help me also, unless someone can point out a more efficient way for me to work with what I'm doing so far.
Each morning I will quickly scan the top 20 or so (out of 100+) tasks and increase or decrease priorities so the tasks I should do today are at the top and in descending order. With so many tasks, it is easier to bump the highest priority task to the next highest number over the rest, rather than lower the priority of a hundred other tasks.
Before or during this initial morning scan, I will often need to add a few tasks that are usually in the highest priority range, so changing the default to my upper range (currently in the 50's) would help.
I understand that with this method my priority scale will increase endlessly unless I do some readjusting now and then, but it's what I fell into and what works.
I'm open to any advice. Thanks for all your guys' hard work and God bless!

I don't support this. Sometimes it is good to give users freedom, but in this case if you want a strict scale, you can use categories. Task Coach has an infinite relative scale, not a strict scale. And it is better that way.
0 is the default. Use negative (down arrow / cntrl-D for decrease) to be below normal and positive to be above normal.
Just get used to it. It's a great system.
I'm leaving this request open anyway, but I don't like it.

I agree with this, it would be so useful to set the default priority.
