    Right, it is for templates
    and not for running tasks.

    1.) It should be possible to create templates directly
    (with the input of durations)

    What I also imagine:

    2.) If I want to create a template from a running or finished task
    (with a lot of sub-tasks - maintaining the conditions, ...)
    The possiblity to choose:
    "take the duration from the difference of beginning
    and finishing dates (of the task and sub-tasks)"
    and the possiblity to edit theese durations
    for the template

    ==> This would be excellent.
    (If many other users think this for excellent,
    perhaps such work is already done anywhere else)
