Enable editing of effort
I would like to be able to edit time spent on tasks. Because I have forgotten to start tracking, or stop tracking, or clicked the wrong task.
3 votesThis is already possible. Just double click an effort record in the effort viewer (open one via View→Open viewer→Effort) or use the “Add effort…” menu item to add effort records after the fact.

12-hour time entry
Allow an option to switch time entry to standard, 12-hour mode instead of military time. 24-hour time may be intuitive for soldiers and developers, but it's a chore for normal users.
15 votesThis has been done for the next version by setting this according to the standard for the language used. To use this before the next full release, download the latest bugfix version:

sub-task property inheritance
I would like to have sub-task property inheritance from the parent task. properties such as appearance, category and dates should be inherited by default.
2 votesAll properties are already inherited. Use the total columns to see how it works.

You can either give the task no start date or a start date in the (far) future and it becomes “inactive”. Inactive tasks can be hidden using the toolbar of task viewers.

Improve the export utility or the notes view
could be interesting to be able to export or print the description and the text of the notes.
May be with a view with the whole info of a task, including the text of the notes and the description.
Or may be using the notes view for that purpose.
2 votesThe description can be printed and exported. Just make the description column visible. NB: there’s a bug where long descriptions will not be printed/exported completely but abbreviated with “…”. This bug will be fixed in the next release of Task Coach.

Search/filter
It would be very helpful if we could filter/search the display, especially in the notes. I often need to look back at the notes to look up details. Also, incorporating Regular Expressions would be fantastic.
1 voteThis is already possible. Use the search control on the toolbar of a viewer to filter what is displayed in the viewer. This also supports regular expressions.

shortcut to the start tracking effort
i could be nice to got a shortcut for the start tracking effort since the context menu of a task is very big. if it's possible at the same time you should do it for stop tracking.
2 votesUse cntrl-T to start tracking selected task.
There’s also cntrl-E to do the same without stopping already tracked efforts and opening the effort window.
The same command (cntrl-shift-T) works for stopping and restarting the last tracked task.
There are buttons and contextual menus and regular action menus for all these things.
Finally, you might want to vote for this:

Move tasks into various categories
I would like to print out my task list excluding MAJOR completed tasks (but including sub-cat. tasks for major tasks uncompleted).
Other software allows me to create two lists (Main and Archive). When I complete a task I can move them to Archive so I don't lose them but I can actually print my activities.
3 votesSee Frank’s comment below.
Also, you can make extra categories for things like “Main” and mark that and then filter by that.
If you want to fully export tasks for archiving, see the discussion under this other request:

Modify completed tasks
I often have completed tasks that I need to display in a black and white printed document. Having a strike through or italicize the completed tasks would help to differentiate them.
7 votesYou can now adjust the font and color in the preferences, so you can choose whatever you need to differentiate…

section in Status Bar for calculated information about selected items
For example, a total time section in the status bar when selecting tasks in the effort view to easily see how many time you spend for a specified set of tasks.
These calculations should be for all tasks when none (or maybe when just one) are selected but show for just selected when multiple are selected
13 votesPatch applied.

Mouse wheel scrolling without mouse focus.
It would be nice if I could just mouse over the main task list plane and scroll using the wheel without having to click in it to get the focus first.
4 votesThis should be working fine, works for me. If you are having trouble still, please post a bug at:

Option "Pause Task" in systrays popup menu
Actually there's only start (with submenu) and stop a task.
But very often I only have to pause a task for a while and to continue it directly after a break.
It's tedious to start this task again by surfing through submenus or opening the main window.15 votesThe single item now is “stop or resume” and acts on whatever was the current or previous task.

Keeping track of tasks that need to be billed is already possible, using either a subtask (“Send invoice for parent task”) or having a category of tasks that still need to be invoiced.

Automatically pause task effort when computer not in use
Maybe the other TaskCoach users are disguised robots that always remember to stop their effort tracking. Unfortunately I'm not one of those:-(
This feature would make TC display a dialog after the computer is inactive for 10 minutes. The dialog would say something like "Your computer is inactive for 10min, would you like to stop tracking the effort?". Three options would be presented:
1) Stop using the time when the computer became inactive.
2) Stop using the current time.
3) Continue trackingThese options cover the case of forgetting to stop the task, of recording the time of a meeting,…
11 votesThe current version of Task Coach includes this feature precisely. The amount of time for inactivity can be set in the preferences. Cheers!

Personal Kanban view
How about different view on the tasks? The category filter is already very good. But I want a view, where I can select my tasks in process. The rest is either done or backlog.
2 votesThis is already possible: open a new task viewer (View→New viewer→Tasks) and then hide completed and inactive tasks in that viewer.

Manually set tasks active/inactive
I would very much like to be able to set tasks as inactive manually
12 votesYou can click the “mark task inactive” button to mark selected tasks inactive. Likewise, the “mark tasks active” button.

Time format change
MM/DD/YYYY is extremely confusing for me. Suggestion is to have option to change time format. (for example: DD/MM/YYYY)
1 voteThe time format is coupled to the language. Set the language to English /GB to get the European date format.

Task square map for priority
I would love to see a option which allows me change the task square map -view from budget to priority.
This is because i to not use budget informtation at all but the square view is a much better visual overview which tasks are high priority tasks and which not. Now I use budget to affort this and have to set priorities too what is a little bit confusing and generates errors.1 voteRelease 1.0.0 supports visualizing priority with the square map viewer.

Track Multiple Tasks
In our world of multitasking, it would be nice if multiple tasks could be tracked at one.
1 voteThis is already possible: start tracking the first task normally and then add an effort record to the next tasks (e.g. using the righ-click menu) and don’t fill in the stop time.

Make effort button active for inactive tasks
The toolbar effort button now is inactive if the start date is in the future or not set. If the effort button were active for inactive tasks, the user could initiate effort and if unset, the start date could be set to the date of the initial effort for that task.
