The current release has this partly implemented.
The way it works, when parents are collapsed, it will show due dates from subtasks in parentheses in appropriate columns (other dates too).
But we haven’t figured out the best options for whether to change the icon color or text color of parents based on subtasks. Should just the icon change? Just the text? Only date-related text? When collapsed only or all the time?
Please share any suggestions below in comments. What do you all think is the best way this should work?

I'm looking for a mac to-do list that can compare well to the (windows only) software by AbstractSpoon that I had been using. Except for being able to edit any field and view the detailed description/notes for a task simply by having it selected in the list, TaskCoach looks like it's hitting most of the rest of my requirements. (I didn't realize just how much I depended on being able to see the long description until I didn't have it!)

I tend to put a deadline/alarm on items where I'm waiting for somebody. Actually, I make an entire subtask for the item I'm waiting for - such as "receive quote from vendor" or whatever it is I'm waiting for. This way if the deadline arrives and I still haven't received what I was promised, I go remind them about it, get an update on when they think it will be done, and reset the due date accordingly.
