Iconize main window when closed
When in a hurry, I may hit the close button (of Task Coach), instead of the minimize button (of Task Coach), this looses any and all use of having Task Coach, unless it being turn-off is discovered soon, if discovered it off too late, tasks that depend on time may be overlooked and become invalid, a missed opportunity, or missed opportunities, to have Task Coach be effective.

Effort abortion
Hi,
sometimes a started effort reveals inefficient or spent time can be considered as lost (This must be rather quickly detected...!).
A button could be used to stop the initiated time consumptrion recording and delete the effort from the database.
This functionality is inspired from a self-made similar application and was really useful sometimes.
Thanks for this great application.2 votes -

categories: keyboard input with completion
I suggest you provide an alternate method to the check/uncheck for the categories that would be similar to the tag management ui of nixnote/evernote.
The idea would be to assign categories for a task by typing a list of categories separated by a specific sep char (like ";" or ",") with the assistance of a completion system.
While the category system of taskcoach is very nice, I find the scrolling/checking/unchecking UI to be rather slow when (as in my case) there are a lot of categories to handle.

Longer Date Range Options in Calendar Viewer
I'm not sure if this is already possible - I posted in Yahoo Groups asking, but my post isn't showing up so I'll try here.
For longer term projects I would like to be able to see a quarterly or annual overview in the "Calendar Viewer" using the "horizontal" orientation (the gantt chart view).
This could be achieved by having the option for columns to be displayed as 'weeks' or 'months' rather then just 'days'. It would also be nice to have some control over the heading text (size and content) so column size can be reduced without making a…

Undo Completed-Task-Button in main window
I'd like to be able to easily mark a completed task as none-completed. For example a grey check sign in addition to the existing green one, like the two buttons to activate/inactivate tasks. It'll be more comfortable than showing up the %completion-column and set it to 0%.

If you have a task with 2 categories which both have icons then only 1 icon is shown. Allow for multiple icons to be shown

allow users to mark a task as invoiced.
I can mark a task completed (and remove it), but I cannot mark a task as invoiced. These two are not necessarily the same. Once a task is invoiced I'd want to mark it as invoiced, so I can get a list of the tasks that still have to be invoiced.

Control interface for stacking and non stacking filters
It would be great to be able to manage filters in such a way that i could have one set of stacking filters and one set of individual filters. Also the order of the stacking could be an interesting thing to have control over.
1 voteAdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) respondedThank you for your suggestion.
I like your wording, but this is basically redundant to these existing requests:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/371680-save-presets-of-defined-filters-and-sortingPlease consider vote for those others and adding your comments there. Thanks!
I changed my mind about closing your new request though for now. Could you please clarify whether you believe this new request is different from the others? And explain further what the effect of stacking would be. Thanks

One-click shortcut for common date changes, e.g. dates to today and tomorrow
There is empty space to the right of the date pickers, and the two most common task date edits I make are:
o Change the date to today (more commonly moving forward a past-due task, but sometimes changing a future task that has acquired a higher urgency).
o Change the date to tomorrow. (Procrastination)
One approach would be to add two buttons "set to today" and "set to tomorrow" to the right of the current date picker.
Another option would be to show a one-week version of the pop-up month calendar in that position, allowing dates within a week to…
1 voteAdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) respondedNote: this is already pretty easy:
option A (keyboard): press “T” while in any date or time field, automatically jumps to today. Also “N” (for “now”) moves the time also. Then for tomorrow you can just add one day.
option B (mouse): click a date, in the calendar pop-up, press the circle between the two arrows. It moves the calendar to showing today although it doesn’t automatically change the date.
See my comment below for more details also.

multiple dependencies
For prerequisites/Dependencies function, there can be only ONE parent (a task can have multiple children but can have at most ONE parent in a "dependency tree view").
It is interesting to have multiple dependencies when you do things like cross-check.
Example:
+BigTask1
+-smallTask1A
+-smallTask1B
+BigTask2
+-smallTask2A
+-smallTask2BI would like to be able to trigger another BigTask when smallTask*A are completed (no matter B)
The TreeView is not a good view for my need, it seems to be closer to a Gantt view with dependecies.
Is there a trick to do that ?
1 voteAdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) respondedActually, you can have ANY number of dependencies. We use something called “prerequisites” which can be marked that way. Perhaps that is not exactly what you want. You want a web / network approach instead of a hierarchical approach.
Anyway, Task Coach fundamentally uses hierarchies as the way of having tasks be children of others, which will never work the way you want. However, we DO have prerequisites which can be any number…
