An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedWhat about my request here:
https://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/3071426-add-icon-only-iconized-option-for-most-columnsThat could do it somewhat…

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedMeeGo is a qt-based Linux system for next-generation devices:
www.meego.com/aboutI think it is too early for us to consider. With all the other things to do and the lack of full Android support, this is not going to be a priority. But if MeeGo ends up being functional enough to easily port the Linux version of Task Coach, it may work, but we'll have to wait and see more later…

Still a valid request anyway. -

I’m leaving this open because it is somewhat separate, but it is very connected to this:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/377630-ability-to-paste-tasks-from-clipboardAn error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedNote that these commands (see Frank's comment) are different on Mac. You hit command-N for new task, and currently you have to press escape instead of enter to leave the editor (although that's arguably a bug)

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedThe only way this makes sense to me is if it brought up a search dialog, and to make that worthwhile it should have extra functions.
I imagine a search that included filter parameters, so it would temporarily filter or unfilter things to show the search results. Users could choose whether they are searching only active or only incomplete items etc. or search items that have certain dates only in a particular range.
Thus, such a search would actually be an adequate work-around for my request here:
https://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/3064992-show-some-indication-when-something-hidden-matchesAlso, the full date-range search capacity might first require implementing this:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/342012-filter-tasks-and-efforts-by-date-rangeIf all this were done, then I definitely support this.

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedDo you have any thoughts on where this should be? I could imagine a separate floating window, but I could also imagine it being shown inside the effort editor (as in when you press cntrl-E on a task), then users would have more control over seeing it or not at any given time…

Given the similarity to this request:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/1145137-save-attachements-within-as-taskfileI’m going to treat the request HERE as a request to copy or move attached files to a specified directory that will be within the same directory as the .tsk file (or optionally any directory the user specifies)
An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedI think maybe it would work well to avoid lots of preferences to just do this:
One preference that says either:
all files are just links
or
web addresses are links but files are actually copied or moved to a chosen directoryThat's simple enough, all or nothing.
But a third preference could be: ask what to do for each file attachment. Then a dialog would come up asking to copy, to move, or to just link the file.

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedBesides the link TrungTN added (and read the comments there!)
You can already make a category tag for this. That's what I use.

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedYou could get a workaround sort of with this request:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/342012-filter-tasks-and-efforts-by-date-rangeBut I see your point. It could be nice to "log" everything at the end of the day instead of right away.

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedTo me, this sounds like the sort of thing ripe for some user to contribute a patch for. I doubt we'll get to it any time soon, but it's not an unreasonable request.

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedI'm leaving this open as a request for just a built in timer feature for efforts.
But you could use the budget feature (which works for a task overall, not for a particular effort). Budget the amount of time you expect. Then vote also for this:

An error occurred while saving the comment AdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) commentedBecause color means other things in TC, I think having tiny gray lines between tasks is a better solution.

Wait, I figured out what you meant. You don't want the tree in the selector, you want the subject when NOT being changed to show the full tree listing like:
task > subtask
so that's seen when just glancing at the listing. Got it.
