Other Task Coach requests

This forum is for feature requests that are not strictly about the operation of the desktop or iPhone version of Task Coach. They may include general ideas, website feedback, and features that would require creating new services and systems outside of the main program.

  1. Nokia's Maemo for smartphones/tablets is sorely lacking in a good task manager. Maemo (maemo.org) is based on Debian-Linux. There's a guide for porting app.'s here: http://tinyurl.com/lsrblv I'd be happy to help with any efforts.

  3. Just being able to synchronize with Toodledo would boost the multi-platform support to online and android sync... an Android version of Task Coach won't be needed anymore sparing the development time to other things. Toodledo is also really stable and understands Task Coach quite well. I did import all tasks in iCAL form in 1 sec... just a pitty not all fields were recognized. I did try the same functionality within TaskUnifier and I was impressed even when the program doesn't reach Task Coach functionality by far... anyhow, 3 desktops (MAC, WIN and LIN) and 1 android phone can be…

  7. A task is planned for not less than one day. I want to plan my daily activities with an estimated timeframe. The best would be to view these tasks in the calendar on the day view and see the estimated time load needed.

  8. An outlook addin would be nice.
    I have following UserStories in mind
    As an EmailReader I would like to select text and create a corresponding task in task coach easily so that I don't need to manually copy&past between two applications.

    As an CalendarReader I woul like to select an appointment and create a corresponding task in task coach easily so that I don't need to manually copy&past between two applications.

    Or will it be possible to include other file (like PDF or else) in the description (It is not easy to use the virtual attachment with the stand alone version)

    Thank you

  10. If you export a todo.txt on each save, and import everytime before you save, it gets a stupid bug.

    1. Delete a Task
    2. Save 2a) the old version todo.txt gets imported, which still includes the deleted task 2b) the deleted Task appears again in TaskCoach
    3. a new version of the todo.txt gets exported
    4. the deleted task, now have to be deleted in the todo.txt first, before it can be deleted in taskcoach. ...

    So it would be better to import only on startup.

    This is not a feature request, this is a bug.
    I already copied this to the bug report area at SourceForge, but please note that under the Help menu in Task Coach, there are separate entries for feature requests and bug reporting.

    Feature requests are changes for the purpose of new or different functioning. Bugs are for things not working how they ought to work already or being dysfunctional.

  11. The idea is give a chance to insert a description or other information then a new effort was stoped (no pause!)

    Today i can start and stop about the systray
    for entering data i must open the new effort manually

  12. I think if the development team had access to a current version of Microsoft Project, the team would get great ideas. If someone has an MSDN license, maybe someone could contact the developers and provide them a copy of Project 2007 or 2010.

  13. I work with Task Coach but my companions works with Task's outlook and shared folders. I have to make twice the same task and sometimes i don't remember to write it at the other program. It's more easy can copy and paste between those aplications.

    The general issue here isn’t copy / paste it is about getting the task data to interact in whatever way.

    Please vote for these other requests instead (depending on which fits your desire more):

  14. Task Coach should be available in the Google Marketplace on App Engine. It´s phyton based - I think the installation should be easy for a programmer.

  15. Hi! Thanks for the awesome project and your hard-work.

    I remember this was a topic of some discussion way back when. I've been sticking to the older versions because of it. I wasn't sure if its removal was a design decision.

    The feature note in 1.2.3 was the following:
    Hide parent task when all of its subtasks are hidden by filtered categories and the parent task itself doesn't belong to the filtered categories.

    The recent versions don't seem to do that anymore.

    Example:

    [Categories]
    Current->Work
    SomedayMaybe->Work

    Task 1 is categorized SomedayMaybe->Work

    Subtask 1 is categorized Current->work and is now completed…

    Ok, I see what you mean. But yes, this is a bug, not a feature request. Add a ticket here:
    https://sourceforge.net/p/taskcoach/bugs

    And to make sure I’m clear: The problem is this:

    If a category filter is to show a subtask, it must show the parent in tree view in order to show the subtask.
    But if the subtask is itself hidden not because of categories, but because you are hiding completed tasks, then in this case, the parent shouldn’t be shown.

    In other words, sometimes the showing of a subtask forces the parent to be shown. But this is happening incorrectly when completed tasks are hidden because the incomplete parent is still shown BECAUSE of its subtask, yet this should not be so because the subtask is completed and so is hidden.

    Makes sense, although your wording was confusing to me at first. This is not a conscious decision, just…
