Filter to hide / unhide folders so only Tasks appear in list
Folders and tasks are intermingled, with no way that I can find to separate them. Folders are not actionable, and I don't need to see them except when adding tasks. It would be great to be able to filter out folders so only tasks display.
1 voteThis is possible, but you have to put the task viewer in list mode (using the drop down on the task viewer toolbar) and then turn on the filter: View→Filter→Hide tasks that are→Composite

Add "check update" and "install" options
Task Coach is a dynamic project. There are many delivery versions. A "check update" and a "download and install latest version" options somewhere in main menu bar may be very useful.

Speed when filtering task by category
I used Task Coach for a couple of weeks now, and the data is becoming bigger every day (300 tasks, 43 categories, 50 notes). When I click on a category in the Category View, it sometimes takes a couple of seconds before I see the subset tasks for that category.

Default snooze time
Can you make it so we are able to set in the setting the default time we want a task to be snoozed.
11 votesThis is possible in the current version of Task Coach (1.2.24).

Task Effort and PC Idle Warning
If a task is having its effort tracked and the PC is idle for a user-configured time period, task coach should pop up a warning to either 1. Continue tracking effort, 2. Stop tracking effort at the timeout time, 3. start tracking a new effort. So if I go to lunch and forget to stop tracking effort for a task, when I return Task Coach has reminded me of that ....

Port to Mobile Phone to Sync tasks
I would like to have the ability to sync my tasks to my phone so I could carry my tasks around with me with my phone.
1 voteIf you have an iPhone you can already to that (look for Task Coach in the AppStore). If you have another type of phone this is a duplicate (look in the “other feature requests”).

Keyboard shortcuts for date and time entry
Instead of having only drop-down list for choosing the month of a due date, for example, it would be quicker to navigate with arrow keys.
Additionally, hitting "T" could jump the date to today, and hitting "N" in the time could jump to now.
Otherwise, if the month, day, year, hour, minutes are all understood as separate fields, then up/down arrow keys could be used to change the entry and left/right could be used to move between the fields.
3 votesWe have fully implemented this request. It will be available in the new v. 1.3.21!
There’s additional features to the new date/time picker also. “s” for start of day “S” (capital, i.e. with the shift key) for start of work day, and e / E for end.

I just discovered TC: good > like to switch between tabs with the keyboard > to much is mouseklick'n
Quite impressed but the amount of clicking should be drastically reduced. Also visually impaired people would love you to make TC steerable by keyboard.
Thank you!
1 voteGlad you like it. Switching tabs with the keyboard is already possible, using Ctrl-PgDn and Ctrl-PgUp.

Inheritance: new subTasks are marked with the same categories the parent task.
When creating subtasks is desirable that they get the same categories as they parent, using his parent as a template. If I am doing some task A to Mr.Ed (a categorie: person -> Mr.Ed ) and it has 50 subtasks is a pain in the ass to remenber to mark the categorie "person -> Mr.Ed" on all these sub tasks, better if I have to mark only the new categories the subtasks may have and his parent not.
0 votesThis is already the case, see the “total categories” column.

Date formats
To have two date systems mm/dd/aaaa and dd/mm/aaaa.
3 votesTask Coach uses the locale that belongs to the language you set. English (US) and English (UK) will give you different mm/dd/year orders.

Add an alarm/scheduler
Add an alarm/scheduling mechanism (reminder) to TC as I am forced to use an external program and I imagine it would be handy if this alarm or scheduler is integrated into the program itself.
Your program is remarkable nonetheless!3 votesTasks can already have a reminder, so I’m not sure what you’re asking for?

Drag and Drop tasks to change they from parent/root/child tasks to other hierarchy.
When "brainstorming" the creation of multiple tasks whe don´t care if they are parent, child, or sibling of others, so I create all they as parent. Now, when I start ordering the tasks some of they must be a sub-task of another and the only way to put they as a subTask is manually creating all task, again, as a subtask, then deleting the old one. It would be so easy and simle if I could just drag and drop getting it from root and putting as a subtask of another task.
0 votesActually, this already works, except in release 0.74.2. So it’s a bug, not a missing feature. Release 0.74.3 will fix the bug.

Export to iCalendar ical format
Thunderbird's calendar program (and others) support the newer iCalendar file format. By adding support for this export format it should provide the ability for users to view their tasks in a calendar format without making huge changes to the task coach program. (by using calendar tools to do the UI for that mode.) Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_applications_with_iCalendar_support
222 votesTask Coach is able to export tasks and efforts to the iCalendar format. Tasks are exported as VTODO and efforts to VEVENT objects.

Task should show due date of most urgent sub task
A task should automatically display the due date of the most urgent sub-task. That way you don't have to open the list of sub-tasks to check.

Better control over task order
I think there should be a smoother way to re-order tasks. I'm a bit long-winded here, but I do think finding a way to address this would be a major improvement for taskcoach...
Here's how i see the problem: Task dependency (not yet implemented) partially address this, but falls short if you plan to tackle subtasks from more than one parent task in the short term. Priority is helpful, but falls short in that you have to manually go in and increase or decrease tasks one at a time to get them into an order of what you would like…
832 votesIn the latest versions, both reordering by DnD and stable sort across multiple instances work.

Enable multi-user Task Management
Hi,
Currently, when 2 (or more) users are opening the same file, a change one
made is not seen by the other, until he re-opens the application.A "push tier" is one possible solution to pass changes to the other users.
Best regards,

Select a (sub)task over a number of weeks and see at once how much time I spent on it
I'd like to be able to select a (sub)task over any number of weeks and to see at once how much time I have spent on it so far.
3 votesThis information is viewable in many ways, from effort viewer to the time spent column. If you have a specific request about the exact way this is shown, please add that separately.

Be able to set the Effort required per task
I would liketo be able to set how much effort is required per task - then tasks appear as on the list depending on their lead time - rather than at a fixed X days notice.
1 voteThis is already possible. It´s called budget.
Cheers, Frank
