Option for : % complete = timeSpent / budget
Makes more sense to me, instead of manually changing % complete each time.
5 votesHaving spent 50% of the budget doesn’t mean the task is 50% complete. So I don’t think it makes sense to base the percentage complete on the percentage of the budget spent.

FTP Sync
The .tsk file is uploaded to (downloaded from) FTP server each time it is opened (closed) if needed. The FTP parameters are indicated in the preferences.
So I can do my jobs at work and find an updated TC list at home or wherever I am, update it and find it updated the next time I'm at work.110 votesWhile this is a reasonable request, we suggest that users who want to have full control (not rely on third-parties like DropBox or Ubuntu One) run the FLOSS software OwnCloud on your own server (http://owncloud.org/)
If anyone still wants to contribute a patch to handle FTP stuff otherwise, it would be welcomed.

Effort view
It might be nice if the Effort view have sort function by each column and a filter function for Categories.

Autosave that really works
Even when autosave is activated Task Coach asks me if I want to save my changes as soon as I try to quit the program.

Need an easier way of showing tabbed view
Right now you have to go into preferences to change to tabbed view. This should be a feature under the "View" pull-down. A hot key would be usefull as well as a "button" atthe top of the TaskCoach bar at the top of the app
1 voteI’m sorry, but the underlying widget toolkit doesn’t allow that. Besides, our intention is to remove the distinction altogether between the two interface modes so you wouldn’t need a switch at all.

Properties View
I suggest a properties view where you can directly edit the properties of a task. I have seen this feature in the Windows application "ToDoList" - have a look at the bottom of the screenshot where you can directly edit the task properties:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/applications/todolist2.aspx
The properties view should include at least:
* Task name
* Task description
* Task dates
* Task category
* People involved in task (if you implement that in Task Coach)Task Coach is the best ToDo list application for Linux but that feature is missing in my daily work. I pay 25 € for that…
9 votesThis is a fine idea, but it is effectively the same as this other request:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/330094-dock-task-editor-as-pane-in-main-windowYour votes will be returned to you, so please go and vote for that other request. (our version of UserVoice doesn’t offer merge functions)

Add task status - For followup
Add ability to mark task for followup. This would help in better managing tasks that need action from someone else

clock / timer for tasks to keep to budgeted time
A clock view would be great. You could set up a task and give yourself a certain amount of time to get it done. The timer would buz to let you know to stop. This could be great for time management. Say you wanted to write three articles for your website today, just give yourself 90 minutes to get it done.

Quick create task by copy and paste
I often have to create a task by copy'n'paste text from other programs (e.g. the JIRA bug number). It would be usefull to have the ability to create tasks by selecting an task in task coach and then press CTRL+V to create a subtask on the selected task with subject as the content of the clipboard

Improve the aspect of the text
It would be helpfull to have the opportunity to modify the text of an action or a note. This in goal to inlight some words, put some words in red, underline them. Like that we can use the note that we wrote like a minute report for a meeting.

Task Coach still needs to be faster (way too sluggish when 'New Task' button clicked, etc.)
I know people have had performance problems w/ 1000+ tasks, but I've experienced sluggish performance from the start, or at least after a dozen tasks & categories added. Even clicking "New Task" results in a 2-second delay before the "New Task" window appears. (I use an older Tyan-based workstation, but still, with 2GB RAM and two separate 1.2GHz Athlon MP CPUs, it should be fine for Task Coach.)
1 votePlease open a bug report and add a sample task file that is slow for you. Please also add your TaskCoach.ini file and exact information about the version you are using and your platform. Thanks, Frank

Extend recurrence possibilities
I have tasks which are recurring eg.: monthly on the last or before the last workday. Right now the recurrence is day number based, so it would be nice to have more abstract options as in my example.
So possibility to count from the end of months/years, take consideration workdays/weekends as option to count (I have seen a feature request for that already).
more detailed examples:
a.) first tuesday or thursday or the month(quarter/year), which is at least the fourth workday of the month(quarter/year)
b.) the n-th (work)day before the last (work)day of the month(quarter/year)
c.) 15th of a month…13 votesThe idea of overhauling the recurrence feature to add more options is consistent with another request.
Our version of Uservoice has no easy merge option. PLEASE take the votes that will be returned to you and vote for this other request:

Would be nice to have the 'notes' interface work more like a text editor
The notes interface requires the user to enter in a note through a 'creation tool' interface. This is very time consuming and unintuitive. It should work similar to how it looks like it works, it looks like a notepad, it should behave like one.

Make unused categories unvisible
I want to save all tasks and all related categories. However if I have gategories which I won't use anymore I would like to hide them so the category listing will become shorter.
1 voteI support this idea, but we aren’t go to specifically act on this request.
I suggest you vote for this other request to allow hiding tasks by category:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/563259-show-all-but-selected-categoriesIf you just want to shorten your category list, make a category called “archived” (or make it “zarchive” to make it show up at the end of the list alphabetically), and then put unneeded categories as subcategories to that and collapse the composite. This would work along with the request linked above to also hide the tasks that go with those categories.
For exporting the tasks for archive to never see them again, here’s a way:
Select all the tasks to archive and choose “Save selected…” from the file menu. Then you can delete the tasks from your current file and still have the data available for reference. You can merge several exported sets into a combined archive if you like,… -

cloud version of task coach or sync with google calander
Google calender is ideal for us, but task management like taskcoach is fantastic, cloud version should be available with one important utility, if i set date & time than that task should be sync with google calander .

Effort idle time handling
It happens quite often, I leave of switch off my computer and TaskCoach keeps running.
An Idle detection would be great in such cases. If the idle time is passed, I would like the following choises:- Keep on tracking the task (including the idle time)
- Keep on tracking the task from now on
- Stop tracking
- Select another task
Thanks in advance!
Gábor24 votesClosing this feature request because it is a duplicate of “Task Effort and PC Idle Warning” (http://uservoice.com/a/jdbV5). Please vote for that feature request instead. (Unfortunately merging of duplicate feature requests is not in the free plan of Uservoice.com so I can’t do this for you).
