Category templates.
Have category templates as separate from task templates. Task templates can inherit category templates for proper classification.
This would allow several time management methods such as GTD to be encoded as cateogy templates.1 vote -

multiclient/multi-user collaborative version (perhaps over network) with ability to delegate/assign tasks
I think that a network multiclient version would be very nice.
Users should be able to see their own tasks alongside tasks that are shared among the group.
A project manager could include a task for his team, assign to an employee and receive updates over the network.
It would be great too the possibility to generate daily, weekly and monthly reports per project sort by team members.

If you are using taskcoach on an USBStick and different computers (workstation laptop at home ...) you will like it, to have the backup copy not on your USB-Stick.

Reminder window : show categories of a task
Show categories of a task in a reminder window just like in a "Categories" row in a main list.

task duration so that task dates are then moved based on prerequisite completion time
Some tasks have fixed length independent of when they started. So if a prerequisite completes late, the deadline must automatically shift (think of getting a baby).
Being able to enter task duration in working days would really improve the benefit of templates and other multistep activities.Short form:
1. task duration in working days.
2. shift due dates based on completion of prerequisitesThanks a lot!

Output a hierarchy chart for printing
I've had several situations where I needed to print a hierarchical chart of my task list. It's currently possible to print the task list organized by hierarchy, but having the possibility to print a hierarchy chart would be a killer feature for me. See:

Effort Viewer option for Total per Category
I would like to see implemented a new Viewer that support a filter to show how many hours we work in each categories that we set for each task done, based on effort.
I tried to look at the effort viewer, but I'll love to see a new viewer that do the job automatic for me.

Allow the user to hide the taskbar icon (i.e. interactions go through the notification area icon)
When the main window is showing, you can interact with it (I think) by clicking on the taskbar icon or the notification area icon. This seems redundant. It would be nice (in my opinion) to optionally allow the user (Preferences->Window Behavior) to prevent the taskbar icon from showing up at all.

Effort Viewer - Effort Details
It would be nice if the effort details view of the Effort Viewer would have an option to have lines separating each day.

Save attachments within Taskfile itself
It would be very helpfull if files (attachements) can be saved within a Taskfile in XML as CDDATA.
Drag & Drop would be a perfect addition to this function.
Please don't mark it as "completed" again, cause it's not implemented. The relative path is not the same.

http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/991699-allow-real-attachmentsThis request here will be considered specifically a request for within the .tsk file itself. It is also unlikely that this request will be implemented. The other, which already has more votes, is more realistic.

Drag tasks between different Tasks Viewers
I have hundreds of tasks organized with different levels of subtasks. To make it easier to organize myself, I often have two different viewers of "Tasks" opened, normally one with a flat list of tasks, and the other with hierarchy.
I would like to be able to drag tasks from one viewer to the other9 votes -
Highlight dependencies
When you click on a task that has dependencies, it would be nice to be able to see at a glance in both the calendar and list view what those dependencies are.

automatically start stop tracking
Add option to tracking mechanism to automatically stop tracking when time has passed configured working hour and restart tracking again on next morning when configured workinghour has passed. And an option to overrule above option for configurable time when working late.

Buttons to lock size of viewers to prevent problems on window resize
When resizing a task coach window with multiple viewers, some viewers stay the same size swallowing up other viewers while others scale with viewers in related positions. It would be nice to have two buttons on each viewer to control whether a viewer stays the same size, one for horizontal and one for vertical dimensions, or scales in relation to other viewers.
