Welcome to the Task Coach feedback forum. This forum is for the desktop (Windows/Linux/Mac OS X) version of Task Coach. Please stick to basic operation of the program itself. 1. I have 3 categories with each lots of tasks and subtasks. To order them, I click on subject and then sort to category, which works fine. But then if I open a task it goes to the bottom of the subject list instead of staying in alphabetical order. It should stay where it was.

  3. When something to do gets into my mind, i most of the time just want to quickly name it and put in an "In-Box". So, I suggest TaskCoach would allow me define a folder as default, so that prior to organization, all tasks would be automatically stored there. This method is simple and helpful and, if automated, would make TaskCoach a very effective program.

  4. Give a quick way to insert a new task without going through Insert new task menu
For instance, use Clipboard (use current XML structure of tsk file) or add a command line with taskcoach to insert a task / sub task

  5. On the viewer toolbar add buttons to increase/decrease the priority of a task. I'd use these buttons more often than most all of the existing buttons on the task viewer toolbar.

  6. The search function should not only be available in the toolbar, but also in the "Edit" menu of the main window, as is good practice.

It would be good if that menu entry would be associated with a hotkey like Ctrl-F.

  8. The ability to arrange viewers on the screen is terrific, but I believe with the current functionality it is impossible to create two side-by-side columns of viewers with multiple viewers in each column. You can create one multi-viewer column, but when you go to create the second the UI wants to make the new viewer span the full width or full height of the TC view area.

  9. You have menus to activate previous and next viewers. It would be better to have a cascading menu that listed all the created custom viewers and let you directly select one.

  10. EDIT: The way the timeline will be improved is by implementing this:
    http://thetimelineproj.sourceforge.net

Votes for the request here will be considered a vote for implementing that change.

    FROM THE ORIGINAL REQUEST:

It would be useful to be able to zoom in the "Timeline" viewer (zoom mode selection: vertical; horizontal; unconstrained) by dragging two bars (vertical and horizontal) or a window (unconstrained) or by using the mouse scroll wheel.

Once zoomed, it would be useful to pan the view (for eg. by holding in the right mouse button and dragging).

It would also be useful to be able to view one…

The original request mixed mention of days and mention of more than 90 hours. The current version now supports an unlimited number of hours. This request is now going to be just for specially marking days (even though you can calculate any number of days by entering the hour amount).

If you do not care about this, please remove your votes. The more-than-90 hour issue is complete.

    Thanks

  12. I like choose the days of the week, I dont use sat and sun, i use the progen in the job. Thanks. Alcenir - Brazil

  13. Add new view (window) with attachments of selected task. By double click on attachment in this view - open attachment.
I think this feature easy to add and useful

I’m going to leave this open for now, but this is basically the same type of thing as these requests:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/293262-task-notes-pane

    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/466618-adding-an-edit-viewer

Once those things (which are very popular), the implementation will probably already make this request here possible, but we’ll have to see

Note, there’s also this, which I think is better:
    http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/872027-open-specific-attachment-from-dropdown-on-specific

    Please consider voting for those.

  14. There is currently no way to identify or mark tasks which are pending third parties, scheduled deliverables, or other externalities which require that the project or progress be suspended, deferred, or otherwise put on hold. It would be great to be able to identify these tasks with a different status (color?) in the task view to help prioritize the active from the inactive (but still current, not future) tasks.

  15. I would like to be able to create a sequence where the text varies, for example like this:

    1) Water flowers
    2) Water flowers
    3) Water flowers with fertilizer
    4) Water flower
    ...and so on.

  16. It's great to see how frequently TaskCoach is being improved. But it would be very nice if users could opt for automatic downloading & installing of each new version. Right now, we receive an alert when a new version update is available, but I'd like TaskCoach to do it all -- to find when a new update are available, to download the new update, to install the new update, and to display a list of version changes. (Of course, users should be given a choice in the program settings -- or in the Help menu -- to implement automatic updating…

  17. It would motivate me to see my finished tasks of the day specially marked but on the same position in the list. They should disappear the next day automatically.
To display all finished tasks don't work for me for this purpose. It overstuffs the list.
    Thanks for developing TaskCoach,
    Michael

  18. ....because links can become invalid (Network resources, Outlook Emails). Another reason is: Only this way you can be shure not to delete an attached (cleanup the hard disk...) file before the referring task is deleted. Keep synchronised attachemnts and tasks.

    A good implementation:

-Specify a main attachment folder in preferences.

-Each task will have its own, automatically created, subdirectory inside the main attachment location. This subdirectory only gets created if the task has an associated attachment.

-When adding an attachment to the task Task Coach will (optionally):
.....- Create a new subdirectory for the task, if one does not exist.…

  20. Could more date format options with the language chosen be provided, like the one with MS windows?
This will allow the users choose what they wish to use.
BTW, TaskCoach is a nice tool & thanks...
