"Notes" to "Tasks" and vice versa
I propose that the "Notes" could be converted into "Tasks" and vice versa.

make the date picker more flexible to understand "tomorrow" or +10 "in 10 days"
entering dates in TaskCoach seems quite difficult, to me.
I would wish TaskCoach could understand the following (or similar) abbreviations and expand them to a complete formatted date:
for example (today is January 12th 2012, in my date format 12.01.2012)
23 -> expands to 23th of current month = 23.01.2012
+5 -> in five days = 17.01.2012
+1 or "tomorrow" (or other language options) -> 13.01.2012
-1 or "yesterday" -> 11.01.2012
+2w -> in 2 weeks = 26.01.2012
+3m -> in 3 months = 12.04.2012
+5y -> in 5 years = 12.01.2017

Please reenable hiding completed tasks by age.
This feature was removed in version 1.3.7. Why? I have hundreds of small tasks, and want to hide all but those from the most recent days. Now I have to scroll to the bottom to see the most recently completed tasks.

Very Simple: Uncategorized display option
When creating new tasks, they start out without a category. As such there is no way to display uncategorized tasks in the category view. You can either display all tasks or only categorized tasks.
This can be solved one of two ways:
1) The easy solution
A check box in the category view that toggles display of tasks without a category.
Maybe even a fake "Uncategorized" category entry which accomplishes this.
2) The more complicated solution
Implement a default "Uncategorized" category that is non-removable.
All tasks by default are put in the "Uncategorized" category upon creation if no other category…

Add a "go to date" in calendar view
Currently I can jump forward and backward, and back to "today", but what about jumping to an arbitrary date? Let me jump to see the tasks in December 2077, for example :-)

add icons on tasks, instead of replace
First I need to say:
Great App!I have a lot of categories with icons. If I assign more then one categories to a task, the icon gets replaced in the task list but it should show the icons additionally, even the standard colored balls shouldn't be replaced.
The replacement isn't even reproducible for me, sometimes it replace the icon from this subcategory, sometimes from any other one.6 votes -
effort per year / total effort per task
When one wants to see the total effort per task, he can only see effort per month. If the task continues for many months, the manual addition is necessary. The effort per year, or some total effort will be helpful.

kanban display (3 columns)
in kanban you have 3 columns (or more) to do, in progress and completed. is it possible to have such display or is it possible to add such view feature? it's different than simple hiding incompleted tasks.

Adding custom columns
Aside the possibility to arrange the order of my columns I'd like to see also the feature to add my own columns. The predefined set is nice, however, I'd like to have a column like ticket number, etc. This is because tasks I organize for myself on my desktop may have a reference to an external System like Jira or Mantis.

Monetize this somehow for your sake and that of your users
So, this isn't a feature request but just a thought which I'm sure you've considered, but which I would like to submit to the community as well.
People like free things. However, what people like more than free things are things which are lasting and reliable. The development on TaskCoach as been amazing. I can't find its equal. There are paid alternatives, most if not all of which are very expensive.
You have a large user base who love this software. Millions of users. Monetizing TaskCoach could be as simple as developing official mobile apps. This could mean the difference…

Task Status drop down
You have currently 3 options for task status: Active, Inactive and completed.
It would be great to have somewhere to add your own statuses for varying levels of completion or a few such as: Parked/on hold, Work in progress, Awaiting feedback, etc

Doesn't create 'lock' temporally folder in file system for Desktop version
I save my todo-file in Google Disk Drive. When I work with my todo.tsk file TaskCoach creates temporally 'lock' directory, whenI close my todo.tsk Google application shows dialog-window "Move to thrash". And this dialog repeatedly appears. This is irritate me!
6 votesWe will be removing the lock file once v. 1.4 is out as that will support multiple computers accessing the same file at once.

Diplay progress in Tasks view as background
Use the background of the task view to display the progress value as a progress bar would allow user to have a synthetic view of progess of different tasks at a glance. This would require user to set two background colors or to create a function to alterate the background color to show progress...

I still want clarification on what this really should look like.Also: there’s a very similar request posted later:
http://taskcoach.uservoice.com/forums/26465-desktop-version-windows-linux-mac-of-task-coach/suggestions/446282-column-percentage-complete-with-graphical-barI’m leaving both of these open because the idea isn’t clearly the same. But I doubt we would do both.

Recurring task budget resets
I've been enjoying the recurring task feature quite a bit and I think it is a major feature for Taskcoach. My one minor complaint is that if a task repeats, the original time budget remains unaffected.
For example, I have a daily 20 minute task setup. The first day, if I spend 20 minutes, my remaining budget is 0. The next day I obviously would expect the task to take 20 minutes again, but with a starting budget of 0, I end up with -20 minutes after doing it. The next day -40, etc...
This current method of calculation would…
