Add "Help > Show error messages" menu item
Taskcoach writes an error log to the program installation directory, which
is helpful when troubleshooting. However the existance of the log is not
immediately apparent to the user as it's not advertised until the program
closes (and perhaps not always?). I keep TC running all the time, so am not
notified of the error log. I only found it after spending some time
searching the support requests and read of someone else mentioning it.I have a suggestion to help remedy this: add a "Show error log" item to the
Help menu. This will make the log more accessible, without…1 vote -

Multiple Columns for Preview Pane
I write a lot of notes for each task and even though I am using a 22 inch screen, when I rest the cursor on the task to preview the notes I cannot see them all. At present you only get one column of preview notes. Could you have the preview notes extend into an additional one or two colums?

Move TaskCoach.ini from the .home directory to the Library directory in the Mac version
Might we consider putting the Mac file location information in the FAQ section
of this Group Forum AND taskcoach.org? Might save someone else the
near-heart-attack that I suffered? As an aside, it doesn't look to me as if the
User Prefs are saved in a "Mac-like" manner, i.e., in a
"<username>/Library/Preferences/TaskCoach.plist," or a folder within that
Preferences folder? Are they also saved as part of the (what would be in the
Windows version) .tsk file?Hi! I've copied and pasted this from Messages section (Mac OSX Snow Leopard- Lost All Files!), as requested by Frank.
"The TaskCoach.ini file is saved in…

Associated record indicators in Edit Task Screen
It would be helpful if the icons in edit task indicated if there are associated records. (e.g Notes, Attachments) for the task being edited.
Another approach would be to indicate how many associated records (e.g. notes and attachments) there are by adding a counter to the icon text (e.g. "Notes (1)")

A hotkey to clear selection
Several times a task was selected and to clear selection (to see all categories colors) I have to use the menu. There is a hotkey to select All. Another hotkey to unselect could be nice, also.

Add a clickable links column to tasks
It would be great if there was a way of adding a link to a document (as opposed to an attachment) in a task that was clickable. In my case the links would be to our document management system (dme://docdm-xxxx) or a web page

Twitter (and other) integration
When switching to another (sub)task, TC could tweet about that (sub)task or its closest predecessor that is configured to tweet. Likewise, other (social) network integration may be neat.

Make Task Progress a selectable feature to turn off
... like "tracking effort" and "taking notes" (under Features in Preferences). I really want a minimal interface.
Other features too, like prerequisites maybe. Just gives users the ability to simplify more.

Stop hiding selected subcategories
If a subcategory's box is checked, and its parent category's box is unchecked, then: (1) the checked/selected subcategory should be visible, and not permitted to be collapsed beneath the parent;
and/or (2) the parent's checkbox should have a 'half-check' in it, or a check with a different color -- like a grey color. These approaches are used by some the most standard software installers for Windows programs today ...at least when the user chooses the "custom" install option.
Under the current system in Task Coach, I find that certain subcategories are unintentionally attached to my new tasks, and this risks…

Enable date setting for task and its subtasks without having to select them all
The form layout is already installed so that one could set dates for both a task and all its subtasks. This option is grayed out, and it would be very nice if the function was added.

show budget/time totals for composite tasks even when expanded in tree
To get a better view of total fields it would be good if the totals for tasks and subtasks were all shown at once, but they should be differently tabbed
