hyperlinks to a task that can be put in other programs
Sometimes it would be nice to make a shortcut to a task or sub task, to increase the interaction between different programs.

have three buttons next to each item in the tasks window
have three buttons next to each item in the tasks window (the window that shows all the tasks and their subtasks)
the three buttons would only appear when your mouse was hovering over any particular line item
each button would have a single picture on it
Left pointing arrow // downward pointing arrow // right pointing arrow
Left pointing means "New top level task"
Downward pointing means "new task same level as this one"
Right pointing means "new sub task to this task"OR - you get the idea... and design it the way you think best

Allow multiple windows to be real windows instead of only the special floating windows or the main window
I use KDE, for example, and I want to make the square map window a true separate window puttable on all desktops & visible while the main window is minimized. At the moment the square map minimizes with the main window and I can't set it to stay visible when the other window is minimized. Because the floating windows aren't regular windows, I can't control them in all the flexible ways that KDE makes possible.

How about a sort based on dependencies?
I have a task, with subtasks, and when I assign dependencies I want the tasks and subtasks to be sorted by their dependencies, so that I can see the sequence.
Right now, I am doing this by setting each to a unique priority. It works but...

to plot total time budget per day
Therefore a flat budget distribution could be assumed.
I always have the problem to schedule my tasks in a way that I'm neither over- nor under-worked.
This feature could help to develop realistic plans when working on multiple tasks in parallel.

Show priority with some graphic instead of a number
Hi,
It would be easier to distinguish priority if it's shown with some nice little graphic like dots or bars instead of a number. Now I notice I have to actually read the column to sort out priority, but with a graphic you won't even need to glance at it.1 vote -

Select Task without clicking (automation)
As far as i know, there is no possibility to select a task without scrolling to it and clicking.
I have some recurring tasks I often have to track time for. I already made a AutoHotkey script that brings TaskCoach to front and starts tracking for the last tracked task (=resume tracking), but that is only usable if I track only one task.
So, perhaps it would be possible to give IDs to tasks and have a "Select task by ID" function -- with hotkey, of course. ;-)

Quicker - direct action for "New task in category"
When working with categories, it's easier to create new tasks within a category from the category tree viewer. Currently is a 2-step process (right click/select or select check box/INS). It would be nice to be 1 step. Either the new task is created by default within the currently selected (but not necessarily checked) category or add a mouse shortcut for it like Alt-double click (the other mouse clicks are already used in different contexts).

Possibility to export "Effort" data, with period, task, start, stop and Time
Possibility to export "Effort" data, with period date and time in separate columns. The current "export effort" put period date and time in the same column (tasks currently have the option to put them in separate columns, but not effort).
