Automatically made parent node's font bold
It would be visually helpful to automatically set any parent node's font to bold (see MS Project for an example of automatically "bolding" the parent)

system-wide shortcut to start/stop tracking effort
since you use task coach to track the time in other applications, task coach keyboard shortcuts are useless (to me).
Is there a way to set a global keyboard shortcut available on the whole OS that triggers start/stop tracking effort while using other applications? Same thing as winamp, for example: I use WIN+right arrow to skip to next track or WIN+ left arrow to skip to previous track. This is user definable.
Cheers and good job! I like task coach!

Right-click the stop tracking button to select which of multiple tasks to stop tracking efforts
I found that you can track multiple efforts at once, however, the method to close one is counter-intuitive. There seems to be no way to stop tracking one effort without stopping the others as well. (Ok, there is.. you have to open it and set the end time). It would be MOST excellent if you could right click the tray icon and select which tracked effort to cease tracking, or, if you were to right click on a specific task and stop tracking it would only affect that task. Currently, it stops all effort tracking and that just does not…

Improve the Effort UI
The 'Effort per day' view in the Effort tab could do with some small improvements.
The starter line (containing the totals) should be highlighted more. E.g. change the background colour.
There's no need to have extra entries for a task's parent task. (if the effort is for a sub-task, the parent task(s) appear in a line below it with blank description and time spent)
There should be an option to have Efforts for the same task on the same day to appear in seperate lines. At the moment they are grouped together and you cannot delete individual Efforts and it…

Option to add a note before task complete
Often I want to describe how I complete a task by adding a note. I would like to see an option to open the add a note dialog when I complete a task.

Add expand and collapse buttons to the top of the Task Tree view to control the task display..
If nothing is selected or only a primary-level task is selected, these buttons would be the same as the current "Expand all" and "Collapse all" menu commands, but when an active selection includes composite tasks, these buttons would become "Expand selection" and "Collapse selection"

Invert Selection
This was in there before but I upgraded, made changes, and needed it and couldn't find it any more. It is really useful, especially since categories and searches don't have a not operator. I tried to revert back to an older version, but the old version wouldn't open it.

Enter effort by just entering number of hours spent
Allow effort entry by choosing the duration (2hours) rather than specifying start and end times. Thus if u work a 8 hour day; assign time to available tasks to log time to total 8 hours.
This allows you to work on two tasks at once and not have to manipulate the effort timers entry. This data can then be used for report a time-sheet for the week (period) worked.

Task is marked when subtasks are due
The main advantage of Taskcoach over other software is the possibility to arrange tasks schematically. However, if subtasks are due, this is not indicated at the parent tasks. I have to open all tasks to see if subtasks are due. Suggestion: a parent task inherits the child which is due first.
27 votesThe current release has this partly implemented.
The way it works, when parents are collapsed, it will show due dates from subtasks in parentheses in appropriate columns (other dates too).
But we haven’t figured out the best options for whether to change the icon color or text color of parents based on subtasks. Should just the icon change? Just the text? Only date-related text? When collapsed only or all the time?
Please share any suggestions below in comments. What do you all think is the best way this should work?

Calculate Revenue not only per second but in larger time frames
Most businesses aren't calculated on exact seconds used for the task. Usually tasks are paid in 5 Minute/6 Minute/15 Minute or 60 Minute units (payable for full units or for started units).

Total Time by Category
Can you add a column that adds all task times for the selected category? Example: I have a parent category with 10 tasks. I would like to see a grand total of time, not just total time per task. Thanks!

Printing of tasks - Options
It would be nice to have a feature where you have tick boxes next to the tasks you want to print and Options like:
- Option to include all subtasks
- Option to include / exclude completed / not yet due / active tasks40 votes -
Have repeating tasks where each instance disappears after its due date.
I have a number of things which I should do regularly, but which, if missed, I will just catch the next time around. Additionally, some of these could be completed before their start date.

mail selected tasks like the export html view
the Mail a task function has not the same quality than TaskCoach.
It looks old unfashioned.
It should be possible to mail it in a view like the export to html1 vote
