Calender view: Show completed re-occuring tasks
When a task is completed the task is shown in the calender view. No it's easy to trace what you have done on a day. But when a re-occuring task is completed, it is being rescheduled with the new date and not shown in the calender view anymore.

Repeated (daily) efforts
Some efforts are repeated daily. It would be nice if these could be created automatically and set a default start/end time, so I didn't have to do that manually every single day.
For example, I create an effort for START of day, an effort for LUNCH and an effort for END of day. Each with standard start and end times.9 votes -

Calculate percent (%) complete by weighing subtasks
All subtasks in a task are not equal.
If there is a subtask twice the effort (time, cost) needed to complete then other subtasks, it should be worth twice as much percentage.
I suggest adding an integer value to each task (default 1), that could when changed make some subtasks worth more.
The task would be calculated:
(stw1stp1+stw2stp2+...)/(stw1+stw2...)
where stw is subtask weight (the integer), and stp is subtask percentage9 votes -
Preference to turn off budgeting and also other unneeded features
Currently efforts and notes can be turned off in the preferences, but budget should be able to be turned off too and so should other sections as well. This will help keep Task Coach as simple as possible for those who don't need all the features.

Better synchronisation with todo.txt
Hello, I've been using Taskcoach for about a year now, and I am very enthusiastic. I do miss a good android app, but todo.txt touch is better than nothing. I understand that a full android taskcoach is not possible, so i would like to ask to make the synchronization with todo.txt a better one. Two suggestions:
- Automatically precede the categories with + or @ when exporting in todo.txt format (the choice for + or @ could be an option in the properties of the category), and omitting the + or @ sign when importing from todo.txt
- Define name and location…

Halt Task when the computer is shut down
There should be an option to automatically halt the task activity when the computer is shut down and continue when it is restarted.
Otherwise, the time field makes little sense to me when it comes to tracking my working activities.9 votesNote: you can already get a functional workaround for this with the idle-time notice in the preferences. It will bring up a pop-up after you come back to the computer that will allow you to stop the task at the time the computer previously shut down and to optionally restart it later.
Keep in mind that many users may want to be able to track something while the computer is idle (to track non-computer tasks), and this feature allows that while an automatic halt does not.
Do you still like want this option for automatic halt, given the existing idle time notice?

add a setting to hide times for users who want to just focus on date
I almost never want a time, but rather just dates. An option to default to "all day" would be good or, as above, just to hide the time that TC adds by default.
9 votesAs v. 1.3.21, there is a new date/time picker. simply type “s” when choosing date or time for START of day and “e” in the time for END of day. These can be set as defaults in the preferences also, so they’ll only need to be changed if something changes the time. When these times are used, time will be hidden in the task viewer and only date is shown.
This is not a complete solution (see my comments below), but it is a workaround for now.

Find task by searching notes
I'm trying to find tasks by manually searching through the contents of each task's notes (contains test results). A feature that would search all notes from the within the main view would be very helpful.

But I’m leaving both open as they are somewhat distinct

Add a dependency via drag 'n drop
Example: Dragging a task onto another task and holding Ctrl while dropping it makes the dropped task a prerequisite of the dragged task. The other way round if Shift is held.
8 votesAdminAaron Wolf (Admin, Task Coach) respondedActually, this is already possible, just not the way you describe. If you drag and drop a task just above another task, it makes the dragged one a prereq of the other and if it is just below the other then it is reversed. Notice the subtle highlight moving when dragging and dropping between other tasks.
This is a little confusing and not obvious though. Maybe the Shift option is better or some other variation.

Create subtasks from the tray
When right-clicking on the icon in the tray, it is currently possible to create tasks (and notes & efforts). I often realize I have more subtasks when I am in the middle of a task, so it would be great to have the same Task-PopUp you have for the possibility to "Start tracking effort" and being able to create subtasks under an existing task/subtask.

Ability to set up daily effort/budget
At present there is possibility to set up the whole effort for a task, but it is important to know how much time can you spend on this task today. With this function you can manage your daily work time by ALPEN methodology.

More use of context menus (right click menus) for things like completion, filtering, de-selecting.
Right click on empty space in a view to de-select all, enter new task, filter. Right click on task to complete, extend deadline, etc.
