Task Reference Number
Give each task a unique (editable) reference number.
1 - Would allow me to include it in emails etc so that when people reply weeks later I can quickly find the task
2 - Allow me to change it to match the reference number in my company's task managing software so that I can link the two43 votes -
Plugin-based design / scripts / scriptable options for the program
If the program will support plugins, even in the most basic form, then it will give the opportunity for other developers to add stuff to the program without actually changing the main code, which could be a barrier.

Completed Tasks view per time period
It would be nice to have an option to create a view for all completed task accoroding to dates (start date and end date) that will be provided by the user. It will be helpful for creating a "Monthly Report" or "Weekly Report", for example, of completed tasks.

Add (Auto)archiving Feature
After several months of using Task Coach, my task file grew to about 1k tasks. It has a significant impact on performance. I don't want to delete old completed tasks, as they may contain notes I would like to read any time in the future. However, the tasks might be moved to another task file, let's call it archive. This action could either be automatic (tasks completed more than X days) or triggered by a menu item, and driven by a wizard (select type of tasks, their age, file to archive to). Hope this makes sense to someone else as…

multiclient/multi-user collaborative version (perhaps over network) with ability to delegate/assign tasks
I think that a network multiclient version would be very nice.
Users should be able to see their own tasks alongside tasks that are shared among the group.
A project manager could include a task for his team, assign to an employee and receive updates over the network.
It would be great too the possibility to generate daily, weekly and monthly reports per project sort by team members.

Changing color with priority
If the color of an indication sign was changing with different priority, the overview of the most important/urgent tasks would be better visible.
That is e.g., for priority 0 = grey, 1 = black, 2 = green, 3 = red (similar to the color of the circle indicating the different status: completed, overdue,...

Keep prerequisites when saving as template or copy and paste
Sometimes a task is just a set of subtasks that must be done in sequence. So prerequisites allow me to know which subtask should I do now and when I've done it, which subtask is next. When I want to do tasks with the same sequence, I try to copy and paste and just change the name of the task. However the prerequisites are not kept, neither by copy and paste nor as templates.

Retain completed task history for recurring tasks
I would like the ability to retain a completed task record for tasks that are recurring. Currently, when I complete a recurring task, the task is reset to the next due date which is great, just what I need. But I would also like to see a record of that task as a completed task. For example, I have a task call Monthly Financials for a client. It would be nice to see the historical records of when this task was completed.

I’m keeping this open as your request is most clearly in line with what I want us to do.

Indicate selected task with bold text, arrow icon, or bounding rectangle, instead of color hilite
Because I color-code the background of tasks based on their categories, it's hard to tell at a glance which task is currently selected--especially since the "highlight" color depends upon the task's "background" color. There ought to be some way to see which task/category/whatever I have selected without relying on color alone.

Hide completed tasks when selecting task from the list in Effort View
In Effort View, it is a bit annoying to change task of an effort that was already started: in the list box appear all the tasks, no matter if they are already completed (even if in Task View the option 'hide tasks if completed' is enabled).

Automatically export to web
Now that we have the export to html/css the only thing needed to make a web for view current status is an option to specify an auto export option. Here can be two options:
1.- Time related autoexport. For example, every 5 minutes.
2.- Event related autoexport. For example, when someone change the status of a task.
And there must be a option to say where must be exported.30 votes -

Add a button to insert date/time in comments/notes
Perhaps with a shortcut key as well.

Task is marked when subtasks are due
The main advantage of Taskcoach over other software is the possibility to arrange tasks schematically. However, if subtasks are due, this is not indicated at the parent tasks. I have to open all tasks to see if subtasks are due. Suggestion: a parent task inherits the child which is due first.
27 votesThe current release has this partly implemented.
The way it works, when parents are collapsed, it will show due dates from subtasks in parentheses in appropriate columns (other dates too).
But we haven’t figured out the best options for whether to change the icon color or text color of parents based on subtasks. Should just the icon change? Just the text? Only date-related text? When collapsed only or all the time?
Please share any suggestions below in comments. What do you all think is the best way this should work?
